Having a problem with the adding function, It says array even though both values are floats

Hello!

I have a problem with the adding function in Power Automate.

It says this:

Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Compose_6' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language function 'add' expects its second parameter to be an integer or a decimal number. The provided value is of type 'Array'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions#add for usage details.'.

When replacing this second value where it says it's an array with a number like 1 or 1.5 I have no problems. When running a test the values I get are floats and I also converted them to floats. Some picutures are following. Basically I am getting 1 value from Microsoft Forms and the other from a sharepoint list.

Then I wan't to add those 2 numbers together and write that value in the sharepoint list.

Compose 4 is basically float(outputs('Compose_3')) and Compose 3 is the value I am getting from the List. So I don't understand why it says it is an array even though it's a decimal number.

That is the adding process, because I converted both numbers already to floats I just take the outputs from those Compose's

Hi @SoerenWedig,

In the expression you are using the outputs of a compose_5 and compose_4 action? What expression or content is in the compose_5 action?

And it also looks like the compose actions are within an apply to each, is that correct? However, the calculation is outside the loop. If so, are you looking/checking the last iteration of your loop? (it will use those last loop values within the add function).

Is the compose action with the value that you want to add inside a loop?

If you address such a compose action outside the loop, it represents an array of all its values during the loop.

To access the last of these values, use following expression:

last(outputs('Compose'))

reading your post i think you thought you were setting up one thing and you set up another... is what you are attempting to do with these two composes like adding a number value that is the result of each loop of your for each?

just in case that is what you were going for, this will accomplish it much easier

just set up a float variable pre foreach, then  in the for each increment that variable by the desired result of your loop

Thank you all for the help with it. last(outputs('Compose')) worked for me perfectly fine and now I understand Automate a bit more 😄
