Help With creating outlook calendar event from forms data schedule date. No End Date Data to enter in End Date field

Inkedcalendar flow_LI.jpgCalendar flow advanced settings.JPGI have created a Microsoft Form that collects data from a single remote user, and based on the collected data I want to:

Create an event on a shared Microsoft Calendar with the data entered into specific fields included in the event details. The issue is the data entry is a single value. Example- Scheduled Service Date. Therein, there is no End Date for me to reference in the advanced settings for the Create Calendar Event (V4) feature. Can someone help me with a workaround for not having an end date data field to reference?

If you haven't picked up on it, I am about as new to Forms, and Power Automate as a human being could possibly be... so I apologize, up front, for what I am sure is a ridiculously novice question.

Hey @JackG77

the "Create event" action needs an end date. This can be just 5 minutes, 1 hour or 8 hours after your start date time or, from what I can see within your screenshot, you have an "all day event":

MarvinBangert_0-1637245786711.png

The "all day event" = Yes is actually pretty useful, because this means we do not need a start time, we only need a start date (like its not 11/18/2021 9am to 11/18/2021 10am, but 11/18/2021 [12 am] to 11/19/2021 [12 am] - the time within [ ] are not showing, but saved internally. Do ignore this in your flow, it should help to understand).

So a person selects a date within the Form like 11/18/2021, we need the End date (In the Forms it says "end time", but we need the date / date & time). To calculate the end date from the start date (we already know), we can use the "add to time" and add 1 day to the 11/18/2021 from the Form.

This is our calculated date, we can use as End date:

Does this help you? Otherwise please give me some more information.

Hey @JackG77

from your screenshot, I can see that the event is always "All day", is that correct? Than you can just enter your dynamic value "Scheduled Service Date" and add 1 day. This can be done either by the action "Add to time":

Base time: <dynamic value from Forms>
Interval: 1
Time unit: Day

You can also use an expression, which is a bit more complex:

addDays(<your dynamics Forms date>,1,'yyyy-MM-dd')

Just switch within the "dynamic value" area to "expressions", add this formula and change the part <> with your dynamic value coming from MS Forms.

Does this help you? Otherwise please give me some more information.

Best regards
Marvin

Thank you very much for your help Marvin. Unfortunately I don't understand your instructions. Can you explain it like I am a 5 year old please? I copied and pasted your expression and it gave me an invalid expression error. But I am not sure if I am doing this in the correct place. I clicked in the "End Date" field and then switched over to the expression entry and pasted your string after changing the value inside the <>. Is this correct?

I found the Add to Time command and set it up as you instructed in the flow before the the Create Event (V4) command however the Create Event still errors out asking for an end time, which I don't have.
