Hi,
I've got 4 approvers that need to approve in sequence. This creates 4 approval nested within each other flowing down the "if yes" branch of each approval. Here's a zoomed out visual:
Last step:
I'm on the last condition of the last approval where there is the "if yes" and "if no" branches however there is no "add an action" in either box. There is "add an action" outside these boxes at the bottom.
Have I hit a limit on how many approvals can be nested within the other? If so what is the limit?
Thanks and Regards,
Dan

Hi @Anonymous,
Can you try these expressions?
Display Name of first responder
outputs('Start_and_wait_for_an_approval')?['body/responses']?[0]?['responder/displayName']
Comments of first responder
outputs('Start_and_wait_for_an_approval')?['body/responses']?[0]?['comments']
Hi @Anonymous,
As far as I am aware the nesting level limit is 8:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/limits-and-config#flow-definition-limits
So, I don't think it is that limit. However, you might want to check the other limits of the article.
Hi @Expiscornovus ,
Thanks a lot for this. Perhaps because I also am within an apply to each action and those are nested too (one per nesting level).
I don't know how else to design the flow. I tried to find expressions to extract the Approver name and comments out of the "wait for approval" action to avoid the "apply to each loop".
Can you help me with the correct expressions for this? May it will help?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Daniel
Hi @Anonymous,
Can you try these expressions?
Display Name of first responder
outputs('Start_and_wait_for_an_approval')?['body/responses']?[0]?['responder/displayName']
Comments of first responder
outputs('Start_and_wait_for_an_approval')?['body/responses']?[0]?['comments']
Hi @Expiscornovus ,
Thank you!! I've struggled for a while to find these expressions you just gave me.
I'm going to try them now.
Thank you again!

Dan
Hi @Expiscornovus ,
Will this expression also work for the "Wait for an Approval" action just modified accordingly?
outputs('Wait_for_an_approval')?['body/responses']?[0]?['responder/displayName']
I used the 'start an approval' and a separate 'wait for an approval' and in the step after I'm writing that expression but it says the expression is not valid.
When I've written outputs() in the expression editor, I go to the dynamic content tab and look through the 'wait for an approval' fields I can insert into the output(). The only thing there that seems to fit is 'body' but it lacks the 'body/responses' that you had written.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks again for your help!
Regards,
Daniel
Hi @Anonymous,
I have just checked it in my example flow. The responder/displayName field is also available on the Wait for an Approval action. So, that expression should work.
Just to double check. Did you rename your wait for an approval action? Or is the name of that action still 'Wait for an approval'?
For example, if you renamed it to 'This is my custom wait for an approval action name' you also need to rename that in the example expression:
outputs('This_is_my_custom_wait_for_an_approval_action_name')?['body/responses']?[0]?['responder/displayName']
Hi @Expiscornovus ,
I tried it using the new expressions editor and it worked but for some reason I'm struggling with the same expressions in the old expressions editor.
Am I right or perhaps I made a mistake?
Thanks again for your help!
Regards,
Dan
Can someone place a screenshot of this correct method please? I need it as soon as possible please. I have the exact same issue.
