How to move an uploaded folder full of files to another library

I have created a flow that moves multiple files (uploaded in one go) from one library to another. But I'm anticipating users uploading a folder with files in. I'm predicting that my flow will not suffice for that:

Do I need to use an apply to each? And how to make that detect a folder upload as opposed to multiple file uploads?

Hello @Anonymous

You have the action move folder, that probably can help you.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/sharepointonline/#move-folder

You need to put the " trigger" for start the process

May this article can help you:

Hope this help you!

Hi @Anonymous,

If you only upload files you have no need to create an Apply to each to process each uploaded file because each uploaded file will trigger the Flow once. Such as you uploaded 3 files in a short time, the Flow will run 3 times.

If you want to upload a folder, you could create a condition under the trigger to determine if it is a folder, if it is, you could use Move folder action to move it to the destination folder, if it isn't, just use move file action will be fine:Annotation 2020-09-04 101965.jpg

Please read the below response.

I've found the List Folder action which gives me IsFolder and I'm now conditionally branching between moving the folder (True) and files (false). BUT - the flow never starts because the trigger is When a file is created in a folder. It does say 'If it is required to trigger on subfolders, multiple triggers should be created.' but after visiting the Learn more link, I'm no more the wiser.

Any help?

Hi @Anonymous,

Steps as below, add Get file metadata action and Get file properties action then you could find it:

Hi thanks for your support. It's not triggering when I upload a folder. Any help?

Hi @Anonymous,

It seems like the trigger "When a file is created in a folder" not work when a folder is created, you could use the "When a file is created (properties only)" instead, it has no need to add get file metadata:Annotation 2020-09-07 141917.jpg

Yes that's helped it trigger now if it's a folder, but the conditional is not detecting it being a folder:

It is now detecting the folder in the conditional. But it is bringing over the folder as well as the files inside it, but moving the files outside of the folder. This is mind boggling!

Anyone know how I can make it detect a folder with files inside and just move the folder with the files contained inside it, to stay inside it when it's moved to the destination library?

Can I ask someone to show me a full working move folder flow which doesn't copy the files outside of the folder as well as in, as I'm unconvinced that it's capable of doing such a thing.

Update: Couldn't get it working. We have resorted to enforcing a zipped folder upload policy. The functionality on Power Automate is continually frustrating.

I realize this is a little late but I did get this to work for a project of mine. I started with a trigger of "When a file is created (properties only), then two conditions- first, if IsFolder was True, and the second for folder path being equal to the library path- this would eliminate issues with sub directories. Next, get folder metadata for that Identifier, then create new folder in the other document library, then get files (properties only) for all the files inside the folder I wanted to move, then move each file to the new set of folders, then finally delete item to remove the original folder.
