How to update a value in D365 containing a comma

Hello community,

I have a Power Automate flow that is updating a data entity in D365 F&O. I am using the "Update a record" connector for this. To perform the update, I need to fill the "Object Id" of the value that needs to be updated. In my data entity, my "Object Id" is expecting only 1 key, which is the value itself (let's say that the value I am trying to update is called "Contoso, Corp."

The problem is that when I try to update this value, I have the following error : 

Only 2 of 1 keys provided for lookup, provide keys for Name.

This seems to be because the comma that is in the value is acting like a separator, and therefore provides 2 different keys "Contoso" and "Corp." instead of a single one "Contoso, Corp.".

To bypass this problem, I tried several things : put the value between single quotes, double quotes, putting it in an array, json, but none of this worked so far (or maybe I did not do it properly).

Has anyone faced an issue like this before ?

Dear D,

Which particular action are you using for which entity?

For example the 'Update Record' action used on the 'SalesOrderHeaders' entity usually asks for a combination of 'data area' and 'SalesOrderNumber' or something like that.

Usually I just run the action, wait for the error and usually in the error detail of the action it is stated exactly what combination of data elements is used for the key.

Hello Koen5, I am using the "Update a record" connector, on a custom data entity that we made. This data entity has only 1 key, which is "Name", but my actual "Name" has a comma in it, so on the Object Id, the connector considers there are two names, instead of one. I hope this clarifies the problem that I'm encountering.

Dear D, 

That is something I have not encountered before ... strange ... just off the top of my head:

• Does the update work for items which do not have a name with a comma? I find it strange that this would be the cause, as such I would like to ensure that it does work if there is no comma.

• Did you try to include the 'Name' in '' ... like 'Dusan'. Maybe as it is between '', the flow considers it 1 value.
• Did you try to remove the comma in the data with a Compose action just before it.

To answer to the questions :

• Update is working correctly for values without comma
• I tried between " or ' but I have the same error
• If I remove the comma, I have the error "An error has occurred. No resources were found when selecting for update." which makes sense as the value is not found, as I removed the comma
