If SharePoint Folder create than create subfolder in the created folder

Hello everyone,

I have a challenge that I would like to solve automatically.

I would like that when I create a folder in a SharePoint document library (1st level), 5 subfolders (2nd level) automatically become in the created folder.

So I create a Vegetarian folder in the document library and the target screen should then look like this:

/Vegetarian
//Breakfast
//Brunch
//Lunch
//Teatime
//Dinner

Many thanks in advance and best regards
Nick

Hi there! I am attempting to achieve the same goal in my SharePoint with subfolders and I followed this advice-

it runs without error but instead of populating the trigger folder that was made, the flow keeps creating a new one by the same name that contains the intended sub folders, but it is in the general root library.... so it does not save any time and makes a duplicate of the trigger folder with the subfolders instead of making the subfolders in the trigger folder. Please let me know if you know how to troubleshoot!

Hi @Mc_squar3d ,

Please share your trigger and check the details as shown here:

Here's screenshots of what I mean. I configured the trigger the way it is suggested from this link and created my flow very similarly to the solved example....but instead of filling the trigger folder with the sub folders it makes a new one by the same name in the root lib with the subfolders - Trigger folder here was named "S004 autopop tst" and the one intended to be populated with subfolders is purple and in the "Test Library>Active studies>S001-S099" path

Ok- I just edited my flow to include the "compose" step and the "Outputs/current item" as the folder path, but then it created a new entire "test library" folder path that leads to a copy of the trigger folder with the intended sub folders in it... still not right.. not sure what I have going on here

Hi @Mc_squar3d

Can you please describe what you are trying to do when a new folder is created within the Test Library document Library?

For example, when a new Folder is created within the document library called "Test Library", you want to create the following subfolders under that new Folder

📁 S000 Training

📁 S000 Study Docs

📁 S000 Site Lists

📁 S001 Stuff

So, if the new folder is named Company 1, you want the following folders created under folder Company 1:

Test Library > Company 1 > S000 Training

Test Library > Company 1 > S000 Study Docs

Test Library > Company 1 > S000 Site Lists

Test Library > Company 1 > S001 Stuff

Hi ekarim,

Thanks for sharing this solution - it's been a real help to refer to.

Do you know any reason why the "Name" and "Current Item" fields wouldn't show up as dynamic content? I followed the steps provided, but at the last step (creating the subfolder), it states "No Dynamic Content Available".

Maybe I need to save as I go? Thanks again for the guide.

EDIT: I was able to resolve both of these issues by switching to the classic designer (top right corner of the screen, ellipsis, "Switch to classic designer". Code works as planned, thanks for the help!

Source: Can't find current item for for all loop in new editor

I've found your solutions interesting but am having issues implementing it. When I turned it on and triggered it by creating a new folder, it created the subfolders at the same level as the created folder - not within it, which then caused a loop and kept creating hundreds of folders.

When I created the condition of check if root folder , getting a False reply. Really stuck here. What I'm looking to do is within the Site Library named Projects - for any new folders created, Flow will create 5 new subfolders within it for organizational purposes. The link to the Projects Folder is: https://domain3659098274.sharepoint.com/Site%20Projects/Forms/AllItems.aspx

So am using Site Address as https://domain3659098274.sharepoint.com and Library Name of Site Projects in the trigger and in the Create New Folder action, but it seems that it is wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What if I want to create five of something else besides folders? I have a Content Type called CAMPAIGN. I'd like to create five of them, instead of folders.
