Initialize & Set Variable Issues

I am running an approval flow through Power Automate but struggling with a specific step. Essentially, based on the region of the account request, that will dictate to whom the approval request should go. Using the switch function, I am trying to send an approval request to the correct person. Why is it so hard to create an approval flow based on an answer given on forms? Please help!

Hi @doon0969 ,

That's awesome!  Please mark as a solution and give me a thumbs up (I'm collecting badges) 😁

Ok, so if you have multiple approvers, simply add a semicolon in between email addresses.  Here's an example for region 1:

Hi @doon0969 ,

Here's one way to do there, there are probably better options but having said that, this works and is easy to understand.  I put my SBG in a dropdown since there are a lot of options.

trice602_1-1690299676778.png

trice602_0-1690299641424.png

The 'default case' can be APAC or META

trice602_2-1690299770675.png

Inside each Case, there's another switch that creates cases for SBG values.  That's where the set variables go.  So you will need a nested switch case inside each Shipping Region.

trice602_3-1690299852355.png

Then your approval is the EmailDistro variable.

Thanks, this worked! But what if I need multiple people listed as an approver? Like, region1@somewhere.com and region11@somewhere.com? Would there have to be various set variables?

I have another question, what if I needed to drill down to the region and country? How would that work? Essentially, the email would need to go to someone based on two answers on the form, not just one. So Region1 and Country1.

Sure, there are a lot of ways to do that.  One way is to concat your region and country in a variable and then use the existing cases framework.  But an easier way that I would consider is to have the region, country as a single drop down option in your "Select a region" question on the form and then you can skip the concat variable.  Always glad to help!  Tom

Could you show me a step-by-step on how to concat the region and country? Would I concat in value under the initialized variable? Or would I do it on the switch? Also, would I have to create more set variables? Thanks!

If you can show me what the form looks like when selecting region and country, I can help you.

Here is the form. An approval email will go to someone based on their selected region, then the line of business. For example, if they choose AMER, then SPS, I want power automate to send it to the person responsible for AMER and SPS.
