Manual Trigger - Unable to Trigger Imported "For Selected Item" Workflow

I created a "For Selected Item" SharePoint workflow (manual trigger) for a list that was in my Development environment. I created via the SP list, Power Automate, create flow, then selected "For Selected Item". I was then able to successfully test and see that the new workflow appears in the Power Automate drop down when i selected an item. I then exported the workflow and imported the workflow into a Test environment. I ensured the data connections and the Site Address/List and all were correct for the imported workflow. I then went back to the Development environment and turned OFF the workflow, then turned ON the workflow in the Test environment. However, now, I can not seem to have ability to trigger it by selecting an item in the list. The workflow no longer shows up in the Power Automate drop down when an item is selected for the SP list. Looking at the workflow itself in the Test environment, in the run history, it states, "Your flow hasn't been run yet. Select Run to see it work."  Does this mean that manual trigger workflows can not be imported and must be created from the SP list or am I missing something??

Hi @SecretAsianMan,

Was your development environment by any chance the default environment of your tenant?

As far as I am aware this is still a known issue/limitation of this trigger action:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/sharepointonline/#known-issues-and-limitations
For Flows that use the 'For a selected item' or the 'For a selected file' trigger, only those that are part of the Default environment in Power Automate are listed within the SharePoint Automate menu

Happy to help out! 🙂

Hello @Expiscornovus,

Thank you very much for this.... was pulling my hair out wondering what I was doing wrong. It is the default environment for tenant issue. Based on your experience, how would you recommend to deploy this? Rebuild workflow in default environment for tenant?

@SecretAsianMan

Hi,

You can use Encodian's Trigr product.

Replace the existing trigger in your flow with Encodian's "When a user runs a Trigr" trigger (works similar to the native "For Selected Item" and "For Selected File" triggers).

AlexEncodian_0-1683931179842.png

In addition, it will allow you to trigger your Power Automate flow from multiple sites (libraries and/or lists) so you do not have to duplicate the flow for each SharePoint site. It should also work across environments as long as they are in the same tenant.

Also comes with some other cools features like flow access controls based on the users SharePoint or Azure Directory Group.
