Move File by condition in Name

Hello

i'm stuck on creating an Flow to achieve the following:

we need an solution to move files from one Folder to an Archive by its name, witch is a Date

Filename "20210329_File.docx" or "20210329_File.pdf" to > Archive if today ist "20210329"

MATUN_1-1617001962358.png

it starts here: what is the correct expression, because with this the flow will run, but will do nothing ..

Hi @MATUN,

To be clear, that first selection list is a list of all your libraries on the site.

So, if you select Freigegebene Dokumente you are selecting a different library than what you selected in the Library Name field of the action.

It looks like you are using library A (Dokumente) and selecting a folder from library B (Freigegebene Dokumente).

The limit entries to folder path should point to the same library.

Hi @MATUN,

Lowercase mm in the UtcNow formatting is minutes. Can you change that to

utcNow('yyyyMMdd')

Hi @MATUN,

Can you also use the Identifier dynamic content field from the Get files (properties) for the File to Move field?

Hi @MATUN,

Was the expression result of your condition action true or false in your last test?

And are you getting an error or does it complete without any error? Can you share a couple of screenshots of the flow run which didn't work?

Specifically screenshots from the condition and the actions in your if yes section would be interesting to see.

Hi

first i'd like to collect all the Items in folder

MATUN_0-1617020260379.png

then i check if in this List is a Item with the current Date in the Name

and check if this is an Folder (i add this because of the link in post above)

MATUN_1-1617020381947.png

if there an Item, move it to "Archive"

MATUN_2-1617020477062.png

the Folder looks like this:

all test's run with success, but no file is moved

Hi @MATUN,

Thanks for the information about the setup, that looks ok.

However, I was actually interested in the inputs and outputs information of one of the flows runs which succeeded but didn't have the expected outcome.

Sorry to ask again, but can you share some screenshots of the details of a flow run action results. So, for instance from your test from 02:03 PM?

Below is a sample of such a screenshot of one of my flow runs from my demo environment, to clarify what I mean by that.

When you expand the actions you can see the Input and Output section of the actions. This helps troubleshooting what is going wrong.

Hi @MATUN,

Yes, it looks like your Get Files (properties only) action doesn't return any items.

In your Limit Entries to Folder I see /Freigegebene Dokumente/Archive-byDate.

However in your previous screenshot it looks like that folder is directly in the root.

Hi @Expiscornovus

yes, i tried with an other folder and now there was an file moved.

pretty cool....

MATUN_0-1617025843597.png

thank you for your support... perfect..🕺

an other question will be to replace the name of the Archive Folder in which the File needs to be moved, by an variable.

we have a lot of different folders on top-level, all folders have different names but same subfolder structure

like:

"Name of Vendor"

-folder one

-folder two

--- folder two.one

---folder two.two

-folder tree

-Archive

in Folder two is the File which have the date Name in the Filename, which has to be moved by condition defined.

but the path will change on every Folder...

also we need to send a List of all moved documents to an Email Address...

(hope you able to follow, because my English ;-))

Hi @MATUN,

Great to hear that the file move works 🙂 Happy to help.

It is probably better to start a separate thread for the second part of your requirements. This way it will be easier for other people to find the answers to those questions.

But a short answer. Yes, I believe it should be possible to add a variable to a destination folder path.
