Is there way to initialize Multiple variable in single block ?
currently i am using initialize variable block for each variable declaration ? when i have more 10 variables its congested.
instead of code flow its more of variable flow 😞
any workaround for this ? also not able to find documentation for this.kindly help.
Doing what you want would require a loop and you can't declare a variable inside of a loop. Consider using Compose actions in place of your variables where possible - many times Compose actions can replace a variable and are much more efficient.
Hi @samsundar ,
You can use Parse Json action to define multiple variables . I just declared this object :
Content :
{
"fromEmail": "abc@abc.com",
"replyToEmail": "abc@abc.com",
"libraryId": 1,
"messageId": 2
}
Schema :
@ManishJain does this solution works for changing/dynamic values as well ? i dont have fixed values for variables some of changes based on output response from mail.
when i tried this unable set variables.
This is a great solution !
Thank you very much.
Hi,
You can put all your variables into a single action/block. You are able to initialize object variable and put a json with all your variables. Also you can dynamically get or set any part of your object/json variable.
Here is an example https://youtu.be/g4BvOKeckWw

Hi @dimonser
How would you set object properties in this variable?
The video doesn't mention it.
I also have general doubts about the quality of this channel's content.
However, I would be afraid of flows with 10+ constantly changing variables 😉
You can call setProperty() method inside the experssion to modify the specific property of an object.
Thank you for the feedack for my channel 😂. I am trying to build fully automated learning videos on c# with the AI generated teacher + lips sync, content and background videos. Just in the beggining of my way.
For clarification:
You can not (AFAIK) modify an object variable directly.
setProperty function returns a new object.
And if you try to set an object variable with setProperty you get an error.
"Self reference is not supported when updating the value 'testObj'"
Do I miss something?
Of course, I could first read the variable into a compose action and use that as the "set variable" value:
setProperty(outputs('Compose_2'), 'test', 2)
But that seems pretty weird to me, self-reference should definitely be built in 😉
Hi, I need to create more than 60 initialize variables; they all have to have the same value and type, but different names. Is it possible for me to have a single initialize variable that would cover all names?
Do they even have to be variables? Do you change the values?
You could think about using one object for everything (in a Compose or - if you want to use the values via dynamic content - in a Parse JSON as shown below).
I appreciate your quick response. Indeed, the value does change. The pictures are saved in folders when a user submits an MS form. I'm attempting to locate the appropriate picture in that folder, add it to HTML, and then turn HTML into a PDF file. I started by initializing each image's variable, then I obtained the file contents, and lastly, I set the variable. To reduce the number of actions, I need to combine/loop the initialize variables, is it possible to create one initialize variable with more than one name?
You can use this pattern:
Initialze one object variable "Images"
and whenever you need to change a value, use a Compose "TmpImages" to create the new object
setProperty(variables('Images'), 'image1-1', 'test1-1.jpg')
and store its outcome in this variable
Access a value with
variables('Images')['image1-3']
I appreciate your response. I attempted your solution, but it was unsuccessful. Respondents can attach one image to each of the 76 questions on the submitted Microsoft forms, a total of 76 images in 76 different questions. First, I created an initialize variable for each image, and then find the property in the folder and show the image in PDF file. This process is working, my sole concern is: Is it feasible to define a single initialize variable that can store 76 distinct names of the same type and value?
My workaround is to create Parallel Branches for the Initialize Variables. I have made a YouTube video that explains https://youtu.be/rNro95ygtdQ

Did you ever find resolution to this?
I just want to initialize a variable as an object with multiple values, then have a set variable that has the values from the object
EG I have one InitObjectVar called "Config" the 3 values something like {""Name": "Jon", "LastName":"Jonson", "Age" "43"} under this InitVar, I want to SetVar, but it's not listed as a variable
How would you replace them as compose if they contain dynamic data? Example I initialize a variable to get the email address of who created the list item. I use that later on to send an email if they meet a criteria.
Probably a long winded way to do it but that was the only way I could figure out.
