Percentages in HTML Table

Hi there,

I have three columns in a SharePoint list.  All calculated fields.

The first totals the number of possible checks

The second totals the number of checks that have 'Cleared'

The third calculates the percentage of checks cleared.

In the SharePoint list this is displaying as 38% but in Power Automate select is showing as 0.375000000000000 in the select field.  Field name is @item()?['Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl']

How can get the above to display as 38% like it does in the SharePoint list?

I had the same type of thing many years ago on a flow.

The only way i could find to sort it was to use the format number step and then add a new colum to take the string.

I only wanted a plain number i.e. no percentage.  However take a look at the following it might be that you can add the "%" in the cells you want:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQumCR1B-q0&t

You might be able to do the number forating and the "%" in one go through an expression.

I hope the above helps.

Thank you for coming back to me.  I've gotten a little further by adding this:

smodkins_0-1712084936437.png

It's returning the correct values when I run the flow:

smodkins_2-1712085243214.png

But I am unsure how to add this to the select below.  If I add it direct to the select I get the below error:

Good to know, what I was trying to say was look at putting all the formating in the following location:

Andrew_J_0-1712086603843.png

Just like the video explained.  I think if you maybe just have a number fo 38 then add the % in hte HTMP formating you may get across your issue.  Look at the below about 60% the way down is what you need in one easy step:

https://manueltgomes.com/reference/powerautomate-function-reference/formatnumber-function/

formatNumber(0.1,'P') would be someting like formatNumber([dynamic content of your column name],'P')

But I would use the colum title % complete and then keep the number without the % as I have told the person it % column.

Andrew

Thank you but when I try that I get the error:

The template language function 'formatNumber' expects its first parameter to be an integer or a decimal number. The provided value is of type 'String'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions#FormatNumber for usage details.'.

You need to convert the text to a number, i.e. String to INT.  I am sure you can work this out with a simple search online but please see below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR5pfUPXgVo

Maybe convert the string to an int first then look at the % so below may work:

formatnumber(int(item()?['Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl'])), P)

Apologies Andrew, I am a bit of rookie cobbling together a flow from youtube and here!

I am struggling with where to add the actions you suggest within the flow

@smodkins

Okay, I am wanting to help but all I see is very little bit of your flow and can only advise on what I have seen.  I find the xpressions hard, but I keep trying things until thay work and using a lot of compose statments to test things out and reading the raw JSON that helps me understnadd what I am getting back.

You have a column called Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl

this column has a number (INT) of 0.375555555 that you want to read 38%

you need to insert this into INTr into an HTML table to read 38% at the location with the magenta box below

Andrew_J_0-1712096379547.png

The HTML table will only accept a String (text) which means we need to concconver the INT to a string

so in the box above you need to take the current item out, and add an expression of something like the following:

formatnumber(int(item()?['Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl'])), P)

I am on leave tomrrow and cannot help any further, it would really help if you do not get any further with this to repost it with a lot more images of your flow so someone else can see what you are trying to do from step one.    As not seeing the whole flow in classic form is not helping me to understand what you are doing.  And the advice I am giving you may not be correct.

Regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I really appreciate the input you have made so far and hope you have a good day on leave.  I tried to replace the above with what you suggested in green but it told me it was an invalid expression.  I amended slightly

formatNumber(int(item()?['Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl']), 'P')  but it failed.

The template language function 'int' was invoked with a parameter that is not valid. The value cannot be converted to the target type.'

This is the entire flow and it's failing at the Select stage:

smodkins_0-1712132511398.png

@smodkins

I am back, but my leave was to last more than just a day and would have been over three to four weeks or more.

Thanks for the whole of the flow, so looking back through this long train of responces I have spent time doing some testing on a number of 0.375555555 as below:

Andrew_J_1-1712330129924.png

The expression above is:

formatnumber(outputs('Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl'), 'P0')

Running the flow the outputs are:

Andrew_J_2-1712330211155.png

The expression formatnumber(outputs('Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl'), could be put straight into you select action.

But to test this further I put this into an array like you have, the array was to give some more fields to play with for the HTML table but you will see I have used the formatnumber(outputs('Percentage_x0020_Checks_x0020_Cl'), 'P0') in the array as well, see below:

Andrew_J_3-1712330373075.png

And then selected two columns for the HTML table from the above

Andrew_J_4-1712330508480.png

the expression was - item()?['age']

testing the above we got the HTML table below:

Andrew_J_5-1712330651814.png

So you can see the 38% came through as you need.

I hope you can look at your flow and replicate the above to fullfill your needs.  Hopefully you can let me know how you get on.

Regards,

Andrew
