Planner task summary email

I am using the power automate template "Create a daily summary of Planner Tasks by Bucket" and it almost does exactly what I am looking for. I do want to pull in the assigned to display name as well as format the dates to be MM-dd-yyyy. I am having issues with doing both of these and am stuck with where in the flow these changes are made.

Hi @pthester416 

 

You can get the task assigned to display name using the assigned to task id itself 

using that task assigned to user id, using get user profile action will give the user details from which we can get display name.

 

To get the date converted in specific format, use the function 

convertTimeZone('<timestamp>', '<sourceTimeZone>', '<destinationTimeZone>', '<format>'?)

here get user profile, I am passing the output from Assigned Task User ID compose action in which i have extracted assigned to users of one task and pass that assigned to ID to get user profile and from there you will get display name as output.

@Nived_Nambiar  - Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I tried pulling in your solution to the flow and I don't think I am educated enough in flow to fully implement it. Could you please help me with where I am placing steps? To me this would make sense to go through each task and get the user id and set it as the variable, but it keeps failing when I run it.

I think steps are correct [ especially last step of getting display name]. Have u tried running the bot, 

The reason value assignments comes under a loop is there are cases of multiple users assigned to a task so as a result that variable is an array, but if your case has single user assigned to each task then the above flow is fine

 

@Nived_Nambiar  - yes I did try and run the flow to test it. The below is where it "broke". Could this be because I have the variable set as a string and not an array?

Ok , it is due to the json structure of that task assignment is considered an object not as array. I have tried with single assignment, 

 

Could you please show how that variable looks like in json format,

 

Also confirm whether you have one assign member per task?

I have added each step for better understanding. Here under apply for each I have hover each value so that you can identify that variable from dynamic content using that expression

 

Note: The earlier post where i have shown to use the user id into get user profile is a correct way to do it, but there was a small mistake which i have done, I have took assigned by user id instead of assigned To user id in th get user profile action. Since in my case, both user ids were same [ as i have assigned samples tasks to me itself :)] , so got confused, But have corrected that in this reply.

 

But the method used in earlier post is same but user id got changed

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
