Populate MS Word Template From FLOW with Rich Text

Hi,

We have a scenario wherein we have a rich text editor in PowerAPPs and we want to populate that text in a predifened MS word template using MS Flow. The rich text editor generates an html in the backend and if we simply populate that in MS word template then we see all the html tags.

If we try to convert the html to text in Flow and then populate then the content looses all its formatting.

Any help would be much appreciated.!

Just here to show my support for how ridiculous it is to extract text from a Word document or to try and create one from RTF.

Sorry, I dont use HTML.  I use the form fields submitted in the HTTP request to populate a formatted MS Word doc.  This doc looks like our paper form and has fields inserted into it (see the developer tab in MS Word).  once you have an MS Word doc created, there is an action to convert it to PDF

also, this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QluNz4pv6WU shows how to use a sharepoint item from a list in an MS Word doc.  You never know, you might learn something from it.

I am very sorry for the misunderstanding! I have posted similar to you before when I thought someone was just trolling. 

To clarify, I am trolling Microsoft - I cannot believe this is such a challenge (I have the same need!)

My brethren, rejoice! Our comrade ashwanidv100 (https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/249686) has found a way to make this happen using HTML instead of a word template in the following post:

Here is a high-level of what they did to make this work:

1. Take your current word document and extract the HTML from it. You can do this either by:
   1. Saving the word file as a Web Page, Filtered with a .html extension and then opening that file in VS Code.
   2. Using an online Word to HTML converter tool.
2. I'd next recommend using a Compose step somewhere within your flow to capture the entirety of this HTML code. You can then inject things as you need into this Compose step.
3. Then use the OneDrive Create File action and create an HTML file using the Outputs from the Compose step.
4. Next, use the OneDrive Convert File action to convert the HTML File (use the File Locator property from your Create File action).
5. Finally, do one more OneDrive Create File action to create a PDF using the File Name and File Content properties from your Convert File action.

Definitely isn't as easy as it would be if the word connector allowed us to use Rich Text, but it's even more flexible than the word connector as it will allow you to do repeating sections within repeating sections. Repeating section inception babyy.
