Hi,
I am trying following:
- Posting an adaptiveCard which I have created within PowerApps
- I have a do until loop to check if parameters for card changed and want to update the card in case it changed
First (main) issue: updating a card which has been created by "Create card instance" - Cards for PowerApps action
When creating a card with the mentioned action, I am forced by powerautomate to post it as user "PowerApps" (I get an error otherwise, that powerApps cards can only be posted as user "PowerApps").
When doing so, it appears in my chat. But when trying to update the card with the action "Update an adaptive card in a chat or channel" - Teams, I cannot select "PowerApps" as user to post it (post as), even when trying to set it as customValue, I receive following error:
The API operation 'UpdateCardInConversation' requires the property 'poster' to be set to one of its defined enum values '["Flow bot","User"]' but is set to 'Power Apps'.'.
Second(ary) issue: dynamicContent Output for Message ID is invalid
When retrieving the messageId by "Dynamic Content" > "Post adaptive card action" > "Outputs" > "MessageID", I always get the messageId in a format like this:
"19:-Z_Z9ZZyyZyy22yZZZZ1yyZZyZZZ5yZyy-ZyyyyyyZZ1@thread.tacv2;messageid=1234560207073"
When using this messageId within the action "Update an adaptive card in a chat or channel" powerAutomate shows following 400 Error:
{
"error": {
"code": 400,
"message": "Received failure status from backend. Status 400, status reason - 'Bad Request', response body - '{\"error\":{\"code\":\"BadRequest\",\"message\":\"UnknownError\",\"innerError\":{\"date\":\"2024-06-27T08:58:33\",\"request-id\":\"33ee1720-4040-4613-981b-8cb902216e21\",\"client-request-id\":\"33ee1720-4040-4613-981b-8cb902216e21\"}}}'",
"source": "flow-apim-europe-002-westeurope-01.azure-apim.net",
"path": "choose[7]\\when[1]",
"policyId": "",
"clientRequestId": "26c65461-7d30-44e5-9a33-01b8724eab5e"
}
}
I already figured out, that I need to extract the "messageid=[0-9]+" from the dynamicContent output
outputs('Post_first_card')?['body/id']
and I am doing this via compose like that:
last(split(outputs('Post_first_card')?['body/id'],';messageid='))
But how can that be in a productive environment?!
After using this workaround I am now facing the first issue, that I can post and re-post the regenerated adaptive card sequentially (filling if not spamming up the chat history), but I can't update it because it would require "post as" to be set to "PowerApps" which is not available and even not allowed on the "Update.
Third issue: Cannot update a card which is waiting for a user response
I already figured out that "Post adaptive card and wait for a response" stops flow execution, so I have no chance to update the content while waiting for a response (e.g. because a parallel path, which continously checks for changes against an api updated the card parameters variable). Any recommendation to achieve that? Also, there is no action to update and wait on a card. I tried to retrieve the messageId of the "post adaptive card and wait" action, but reasonably receive that only after the first reponse and even when trying to update this card then, I run into the above mentioned main issue. Though I am not sure if updating a card which is in waiting state would even work (so that interactions with the updated card will flow into the "wait for response" action correctly).
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
