Power Automate Save Email to SharePoint List or Library

Hello All, 

Looking for assistance with PowerAutomate. Specifically, I want to be able to save entire emails with a specific subject automatically in a SharePoint Library or List. For example, a weekly email sent with the title: Weekly Team Reports.

Hi Casey,

Pls check if the below sample flow is helpful.

In this example, the flow will save the email in .eml format as it arrives in the inbox.

1. We will set "When an email arrives" trigger and we will restrict the flow to run for particular emails by adding subject filter to it. You may add other filters like sender, to, cc etc.

2. Next, we will use "Export email" action to export the arrived email. You will get the Message Id from the dynamic content as shown below:

3. Finally, we will create a new file in SharePoint library using "Create file" action. 

Pls remember to add .eml extension in the "File name" parameter. Here I am saving the file based on the subject of the email. To make file name unique, you may add current date & time to its name.

Hi @caseyw25 

When I click the .eml file in SharePoint library, I can see the embedded image in that file.

Hi Manish,

I followed the steps above to save a file .eml but when I open it with Outlook, it's just blank as picture. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi @Anonymous 

Did you try downloading the .eml file from SharePoint library & open in outlook? I could be able to open the file directly from the SharePoint site in the browser.

thank you for your reply. no, I do open with Outlook directly (I chose Outlook as default app to open it), here is my flow:

  I don't see any difference from yours, this is just so exhausting when it keeps failing 😄

Hi @Anonymous 

I could notice the addition of "For each" action in your flow which was not there in my solution. I would suggest you recreate the flow in classic designer. I personally find new designer to be unstable to use.

Hi @FabvE 

I would suggest switching to classic designer as I find issue in new designer when dealing with binary/base64 objects. 

You could try toggle off "New designer" flag to switch to classic designer and then readded the Create file action:

Pls retest the flow & check if you could see the attachments of the emails. 

Pls note that you could provide .msg as file extension while saving files in SharePoint library as per your need.
