All - in my Power Automate - I am trying to send an e-mail from a SharePoint list and when the e-mail is received two items are occurring:
1) The end date is not in the e-mail
2) I'm trying to only have in the e-mail content from a view I created.
When I look at the views content in SharePoint Online it shows exactly what I want to appear in the e-mail but it's not being recognized in the content output of the e-mail even though that custom view is selected in the Limit Columns by View.
The Title and Start Time do appear in the e-mail:
Note – the End Time fx is as such: if(equals(item()?['_EndDate'],null),'',formatDateTime(item()?['_EndDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy'))
Solved! Go to Solution.
Please try the following steps, but I suspect the issue may lie in the expression.
(1) Modify the expression as shown and run the flow:
if(empty(item()['_EndDate']),'',formatDateTime(item()['_EndDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy'))
The flow will generate an error and stop if the field name does not exist. Please copy and paste the error message if any.
Other steps to try:
(2) Please confirm the data type for the EndDate: Is it of type Date only or Date & Time?
(3) Confirm that the EndDate column contains data:
(4) Can you test the flow by removing the expression for the EndDate and just use the dynamic content and post the runtime output results:
(5) What does your Create HTML Table action look like:
Hope this helps.

Hi @koneill2020 ,
Here are some steps you can try:
1. Please check that you are using the correct internal name in your expression for the EndDate column
See: How to find the internal name of a SharePoint column
2. Can you test with out limiting the view in order to quickly rule out a problem with the Weekly Events view:
3. When you say the EndDate is missing in the email, do you mean that the EndDate column is there in the table, but it does not contain any data for EndDate? See your runtime output:
If this is the case, it is likely that the expression has not used the correct internal name for the EndDate column.
See: How to find the internal name of a SharePoint column
4. The expression could be simplified to
if(empty(item()?['field_EndDate']),'',formatDateTime(item()?['field_EndDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy'))
Hope this helps.

Many thanks - here are my answers:
1. Please check that you are using the correct internal name in your expression for the EndDate column
- see this from the query string method from the list:
2. Can you test with out limiting the view in order to quickly rule out a problem with the Weekly Events view:
Yes - either with or without the view I get the same behavior it returns all results and doesn't show the End Date
3. When you say the EndDate is missing in the email, do you mean that the EndDate column is there in the table, but it does not contain any data for EndDate? See your runtime output:
Yes - Correct see the output:
4. The expression could be simplified to
Yes - thanks!

Finally getting back to this one and many thanks for the help so
1) - after I change to this
if(empty(item()['_EndDate']),'',formatDateTime(item()['_EndDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy'))
I do get an error as such:
The execution of template action 'Select' failed: The evaluation of 'query' action 'where' expression '{
"Subject": "@item()?['Title']",
"Start Time": "@if(equals(item()?['StartDate'],null),'',formatDateTime(item()?['StartDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy')) ",
"End Time": "@if(empty(item()['_EndDate']),'',formatDateTime(item()['_EndDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy'))"
}' failed: 'The template language expression 'if(empty(item()['_EndDate']),'',formatDateTime(item()['_EndDate'],'dd-MM-yyyy'))' cannot be evaluated because property '_EndDate' doesn't exist, available properties are '@odata.etag, ItemInternalId, ID, Title, StartDate, OData__EndDate, {Identifier}, {IsFolder}, {Thumbnail}, {Link}, {Name}, {FilenameWithExtension}, {Path}, {FullPath}, {HasAttachments}, {VersionNumber}'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions for usage details.'.
2) The EndDate was set as a Date and Time - so I changed it to just Date which is the same as to what I have the Start Date as.
3) EndDate goes have data:
4) When I remove the expression and just add EndDate - the workflow now works and displays the content as such in the e-mail:
The Select output of the body is as such:
"Start Time": "22-03-2022",
“End Time": "2022-03-22"
Interesting though the select input from shows the column name as such:
"OData__EndDate": "2022-03-22",
The Create HTML output is as such:
The Create HTML table is as such:
So therefore do I not need the expression for the EndDate as it appears to work?
Also - I still am working on what I see in the e-mail to show the data from the view I created because otherwise it's returns all rows which I don't want in the e-mail - I want it to just show the data from the view in the e-mail based on the Get Data action - I have set-up - I may try and re-create the view with a different name then the list as a test and see if that fixes this oddity:
We finally have the correct internal name for EndDate which is OData__EndDate.
If you are happy with the output from Create HTML action then you wont need to use expressions to format the date.
It seems that the field was originally created as _EndDate. Please note the other methods of finding the internal names of SharePoint columns here: How to find the internal name of a SharePoint column
