Power BI / Power Automate "This content isn't available"

Power BI / Power Automate "This content isn't available"

Does anyone have any advice about this error?

It happens intermittently when running flows to export/embed Power BI reports as a png or as a ppt, not always on the same pages of the PowerPoint or at the same time. We've checked credentials and Power BI loading which could cause it to throttle, drawing a blank.

This only started happening a fortnight or so ago, until then I hadn't seen the error.

Hi all

As per this thread Solved: Re: Export to PDF - random pages not showing up - Microsoft Fabric Community

A fix has been applied by Microsoft. We are doing some testing of the flows and will monitor it for a while but hopefully once that's done we can close this thread.

Exact same issue just started today, never seen before.

Not impacting all pages.

Cheers for replying. We are going through our contact at Microsoft to get an answer, but it's useful to know it's not just us. If I get anything useful back I'll post it.

Same here - impacting pages at random when exporting reports to pdf, both via Power Automate Desktop or manually in the browser.

From the limited results I got when searching the web, this issue seems to have popped a couple of days ago, but no one seems to have a solution so far.

Hi guys, I have also looking for a solution since yesterday as I and my colleagues experienced the same issue for multiple reports. After multiple trials of exporting the report to ppt, it can be successful.

Thanks for creating the thread, looking forward if anyone will manage to define what is and solve the issue.

I have the same issue!

We think that it might not be exclusive to Power Automate, as triggering the API request to Power BI without going through Power Automate has seen the same thing happen. I expect the fix will be something Microsoft do in the background but if we hear of a work around I'll post it here.

@mcumis wouldn't make it sense to move the thread to another Forum for a wider audience?

This has just started to me.  It only seems to happen to the more complex pages.  Could it be a time-out when rendering the image?

Could be. I adjusted one of my flows to “cycle” through every single page before exporting a report to PDF, and since then these blank pages did not occur.

(Might also be a coincidence, but before that I had blank pages occur in almost every export.)

Hi @R_Doh Could you please explain how you did it?

Hi @AdrianSko ,

Sure, although I am afraid there is not much to it (Also, I should clarify that I am talking about Power Automate Desktop).

For testing purposes, I did it in the dumbest way possible, which means using browser automation to click on every page available in the page navigation pane of the PBI report before exporting to PDF. I did not even bother to make sure that every report page fully loaded before switching to the next one, as I was just curious to test whether I would see any change whatsoever.

Since then, I did not encounter any blank pages, but again, this could very much just be a coincidence. Even then, I would very much prefer if the Power BI team fixed it in the background, so that I don’t have to use “brute-force” methods like this.

Nice! If only my company would allow us to install the desktop app..  (Cuz, security!!)

As well as using the PowerAutomate connector, this issue is also occurring for us when calling the PowerBI "Export To File in Group" REST API directly (Reports - Export To File In Group - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn)

Like others in this thread, we're also seeing this occur on random PNG exports, PDF pages and PPTX pages. The PowerBI audit records show the related activities but don't give any indication of anything different about the failed export runs.

We have an active support ticket with Microsoft who are investigating.

Just to add some further details, we can also replicate this issue when using the Export to PowerPoint (as image) functionality within PowerBI:

andythomas_2-1707140946695.png

And also when using email subscriptions with PowerPoint attachments, set up within PowerBI itself.

This means we're seeing this problem occur across many different areas

  • PowerAutomate PowerBI connector
  • Export to File PowerBI REST API calls
  • Manual export within the PowerBI interface
  • Email subscriptions within PowerBI

Hi,

I've had the same problem for a few weeks now. My API export through Powershell is littered with blank pages whereas all of last year it was a dream, this occurs on both pdf and powerpoint export both through the api and if you run them manually through the browser. I've had to resort to running another powershell script to cycle through the 80+ extracted powerpoints looking for blank pages so I know which ones I have to re-run....

Yes, I have the same issue and the problem is that it happens random, so is not sure that in going to happens or not.

Any recommendation for that?

Hi, I have been experiencing this issue for pdf, png reports exported via Power Automate cloud action. Is there any recommended workaround for Power Automate cloud to mitigate this issue?

Hi all

We've stress tested the fix (a 40+ page Power BI report exported to PowerPoint every ten minutes for almost 24 hours, through Power Automate) and haven't seen errors in any of the exports.

Hopefully others are finding the same, thanks to everyone who responded
