Powerapps -> onedrive image in base64 not converting to jpg/png

So, I have a button in PowerApps that sends an image content and image name to a flow. I use Camera.Stream to capture the image and a timestamp to name it. The name is correct when it is uploaded and the file is too. My issue is the file uploaded is in base 64 and one drive can not read/see it. I opened the file uploaded with a text editor, copied the content and ran it in a base 64 to jpg converter... the image converted properly and was the correct image. So my issue is that I am uploading a base64 image to OneDrive and it is not being converted.

Here is my flow:

PleaseHelpMe_0-1638971985755.png

The funny thing is that I was able to get this to work fine in my test environment but when I re-created everything in the live environment, the image upload did not seem to work properly.

When I try to use a base64 to binary converter, I get the following error:
"Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Compose' inputs at line '1' and column '11626': 'The template language function 'base64ToBinary' was invoked with a parameter that is not valid. The value cannot be decoded from base64 representation.'."
I have tried converting it inline and using a compose and passing through the output. Both times it fails on the conversion.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi @PleaseHelpMe

You should read the "body" property, and replace "data:image/png;base64," by an empty string. It seems Power Apps adds this extra information to show pictures: Base64 Image not displaying - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

This was pretty much it, I also had to remove the " at the end, but not the equal signs. Just commenting this incase someone else has the same issue.

Hi @PleaseHelpMe

How are you sending the image from PowerApps to PowerAutomate? Are you doing something like this?

UploadPhotoToOneDrive.Run(
     {
         contentBytes: img_SingleImage_Image.Image,
         name: Text(Now(), "yyMMddhhmmss")
     },
     'Upload picture')

As you moved your Power Apps to another environment, have you tried to re-import the flow?

Hope it helps!

Ferran

Hi,
I am uploading like so:

UpdateContext({TakenPic: Camera1.Stream});
Set(timeVar,Now());
UploadphotostoOneDriveforBusiness.Run(Text(timeVar, "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ff AM/PM"), TakenPic);

Please note I have tried re-importing the flow in fact, I have made a new flow and still have the issue. Also I have tried camera1.Photo with the issue remaining.
I see you used a different format from how I did using {} and some labels. What is this called and would I need to change my flow to incorporate them?

Hi @PleaseHelpMe

Could you try to:

1) Use Camera1.Photo instead of Camera1.Stream ?

2) Send Camera1.Photo to PA and use the following expression before saving the content?:

image-32[1].png

image-33[1].png

Hope it helps!

I tried this, but I got the error:

Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Compose' inputs at line '1' and column '11626': 'The template language function 'base64ToBinary' was invoked with a parameter that is not valid. The value cannot be decoded from base64 representation.'.

Like I said in the original post, I have tried converting inline and using a Compose, both to no avail. I also made a new flow and PowerApps project(s) which did not solve the issues.

It seems that the image is not encoded to Base64. Could you try the following:

1) Store the image in base64 in a variable:

Set(varBase64,JSON(Camera1.Photo,JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData))

2) Pass that variable to the PA Flow with something like this:

UploadphotostoOneDriveforBusiness.Run(Text(timeVar, "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ff AM/PM"), varBase64);

Ferran

I tried using the method that you provided, but do not get any data passed through from power apps,
Here is what my flow received:

PleaseHelpMe_1-1638990567941.png

And here is what I am running in PowerApps on my upload image button:

Set(varBase64,JSON(Camera1.Photo,JSONFormat.IncludeBinaryData));
Set(timeVar,Now());
Upload_Images_To_OneDrive.Run(Text(timeVar, "mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss.ff AM/PM"), varBase64);

Interestingly if I use camera1.Stream, I get the base 64 representation of the image, with some extra baggage at the front,

{"host":{"apiId":"subscriptions/cbd472fe-eafa-4c32-b348-555abce6f9ba/providers/Microsoft.Web/locations/westus/runtimes/msmanaged-na/apis/onedriveforbusiness","connectionReferenceName":"shared_onedriveforbusiness","operationId":"CreateFile"},"parameters":{"folderPath":"/Maintenance Bin Images","name":"12/08/2021 02:10:40.633 PM.png","body":"\"data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAoAAAAHgCAYAAAA10dz

With that said, I still need to figure out how to get the image to be in a format supported by onedrive

Hi,
I have tried this,
I removed the "data:image/png;base64," and the two == signs and the " at the end. I now have a true base64 representation. This is proven as I am able to paste in the modified output to a base64->png converter and I see my image. However power automate still throws the error saying that it is not base 64. Here is a snippet of the beginning and end of one of the outputted files:

iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAoAAAAHgCAYAAAA10dzkAAAAAXNSR0IArs4c6QAAIABJREFUeF6cvWmTbFlyHBaZNzO...YkrwYXolE87jN7WeGv+u/AiQrGiPCBxy9AAAAAElFTkSuQmCC

the ... represents a gap in the middle of the file, it was too long to paste it all in. I have no idea why  this function is failing. Thanks for getting me on the correct path... I will keep updating this post as I go.

This was pretty much it, I also had to remove the " at the end, but not the equal signs. Just commenting this incase someone else has the same issue.
