QR code to sharepoint list

Hi,

Need power automate flow that generates QR code with sharepoint list item address and put that QR code to same sharepoint list column with name QR code or to that item as attached picture.

Tried several scenario:

  1. https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/QR-Code-to-open-an-item-in-sharepoint-list/td-p/8... - after getting error (pic1)
  2. Tried with HTTP function, but QR code generate only sharepoint list address but not sharepoint list item address (pic2)
  3. Tried with function concat in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr-m2D9L2Yc, but still no luck. Because too long hyperlink address in my case.

Any suggestions?

The reason you are getting an error in your step 1 is there is a bug with the new designer. It has put an apply to each around the Encodian action (wrongly) and therefore your create file action thinks there's an array of possible filenames when there should only be 1.

Switch to the classic designer and do the same thing:

No apply to each is added and your flow will work easily.

Hi @ValdasVelicka ,

This error is because of the "ID" that you're passing is either have null or empty value.  Please make sure that you're passing the SharePoint unique "ID". Or you can try it with adding the following expression:

triggerOutputs()?['body/ID']

If you find my approach useful then, please choose this as your first choice as it is free to use. The "Encodion" is a paid service, after trial you need to buy their subscription. Please follow following link to see Encodian pricing: Encodian Flowr for Microsoft Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps

Regarding your another question to generate QR codes for existing records, I am providing you the details of sample flow by using the Encodian "Create QR Code" Action (Because you are using this action in existing flow and that is working fine at your end).

// Complete flow:

harshdeol_0-1701189077672.png

//Actions:

>> Use a Manual trigger and after that add SharePoint's "Get items" action to get all existing records.

harshdeol_1-1701189312106.png

>> Add an "Apply to Each" action and configure the loop to iterates on the "value" of the "Get items" action.

Inside Apply to each add the action to "Create QR code" and "Add attachment" action select required values (Configure the File name accordingly) and save the flow.

harshdeol_4-1701189912585.png

Note: Before running the flow, please make sure to turn on the "Pagination" of the "Get Items" Action from the settings. Because by default, this action provides only top 100 records. To get more than 100 records, please add threshold accodingly. Refer to images provided below:

Please give it a try at your end and let me know if you have any further question.

Hi @ValdasVelicka ,

The goal is to create and save the "QR code" for each SharePoint list item. Based on the requirements, I created the flow in my environment, please review and give it a try.

//Solution

1. Create a new Column in SharePoint List with name "QRCode" of Type "Hyperlink".

2. Create a Power automate flow by using the following steps:

//Please see Full flow below:

harshdeol_0-1700935354990.png

Step 1: Add a Trigger "When an item is created" and select the SharePoint Site and List form the Dropdown.

harshdeol_1-1700935454905.png

Step 2: Add a "Compose" action and paste the following URL.

https://chart.googleapis.com/chart?cht=qr&chs=150x150&chl=https://[YourOrganization].sharepoint.com/sites/[YourSiteName]/Lists/[YourListName]/DispForm.aspx?ID=

> Please make sure to replace the [YourOrganization], [YourSiteName] and [YourListName] with your organisation, site and list name. You can find these values from your SharePoint List URL.

> After the URL, please select the "ID" from the dynamic content.

> Please make sure that URL doesn't have any "empty space" and Final URL will be Looks like this. Please refer to following image:

harshdeol_3-1700936450026.png

Note: We can also use "Link to item" instead of this custom URL in "Compose," but due to the 255-character limit of the "Hyperlink" type column, we aren't going to use that.

Step 3: Add an "Update item" action. Then Add the Site address, List name from the dropdown, and Select id= "ID" and "QRCode" = "Output of Compose" from the Dynamic content. Please refer to below image:

harshdeol_0-1700937109612.png

Now, Save the flow and create new item in the SharePoint List. Please don't add anything in the "QRCode" Column.

harshdeol_0-1700938639335.png

After few seconds, you will see that a link in the QR-code Column is automatically added.

harshdeol_1-1700938752638.png

Now, go to List settings > Select the "QRCode" Column and change the "Format URL as" from "Hyperlink" to "Picture" and click on "OK" to Save.

harshdeol_2-1700938932358.png

harshdeol_4-1700939327835.png

After doing so, A "QR-Code" picture (instead of link) will appear in the column.

//Output

harshdeol_5-1700939399160.png

I hope it will help you.

Hi,

First of all thank you for your respond and time. Instruction is very clear. But still...getting error. Attached images.

Hi,

Yup, i found this too. "Create QR code" tried with no apply to each function and it work's perfectly. Thank you very much.

At the moment flow which generate qr code and put it to shaprepoint list as attachement, when new item is created looks like this, attached picture.

This flow works for me.

Another question - i already have sharepoint list items (about 300) and i need to generate qr codes for them. How should flow looks like?
