[Question] Only move attachment to SharePoint when there's 1 pdf file attached

Hi,

I am looking into creating a file on SharePoint when there is only 1 PDF attached.

This is what i have currently got, which works fine, for the most part.

The problem is, that when there's a image in the mail (e.g. company signature) it counts that as an attachment aswell.

With as result bouncing on the equals 1 statement.

What can i do to make it only count the attachments?

Hi!

I would be also happy to find out an efficient solution to skip image based signatures.

In the meantime, what you can do is to apply an Array Filter action block, its related condition shall be the one you are currently applying.

Once done, you will get rid of all the attachments but the pdf files.

Then you can apply a condition to evaluate Arry Filter output length, if equals to 1, then you got it.

You can count filtered attachments in a similar way you count attachments, as you will see explained here(https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/count-the-number-of-attachments-in-an-email/m-p/7... )

Hi @EdwinR,

The issue is confirmed on my side, if there is a image as a signatur in email, the formula in your Condition 2 box would not take effect, the number of attachment files is 2.

I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:

• Add “When a new email arrives” trigger.
• Add a Condition, click “Edit in advanced mode”, type the following formula:

@equals(length(triggerBody()?['Attachments']), 1)

• Within “If/yes” branch of Condition, add “Apply to each”, Input parameter set to output of trigger. Within “Apply to each”, add a Condition 2, click “Edit in advanced mode”, type the following formula:

@endswith(items('Apply_to_each')?['Name'], '.pdf') 

Within “If/yes” branch of Condition 2, add “Create file” action.

• Within “If/no” of Condition, add a Condition 3, click “Edit in advanced mode”, type the following formula:

@equals(length(triggerBody()?['Attachments']), 2)

• Within “If/yes” branch of Condition 3, add a “Apply to each 2”, Input parameter set to output of trigger, Within “Apply to each 2”, add a Condition 4, click “Edit in advanced mode”, type the following formula:

@endswith(items('Apply_to_each_2')?['Name'], '.jpg')

Within “If/no” branch of Condition 4, add a Condition 5, click “Edit in advanced mode”, type the following formula:

@endswith(items('Apply_to_each_2')?['Name'], '.pdf')

Within “If/yes” branch of Condition 5, add “Create file” action.

Thanks a lot for your solution!

It works almost flawlessly.

The only problem I am facing now is when there's no .img in the signature or mail, and they send 2 pdf files, it puts both of them through.

Still a big step in the right direction, thank you.

What if you are not certain of the number of pdf file(s) attached, how do you setup the condition?

The email could contain 1 or 10 pdf files.

Since all attachments are stored in an array; you can use a "Filter Array" action block to grab the pdf files. The condition inside the "Filter Array" action block would be

@endswith(items('Apply_to_each')?['Name'], '.pdf') 

Finally in order to identify the number of .pdf files you can use inside a Condition the following expression:

length(body('Filter_array'))

Please take into account the Filter Array result can be an empty array in case no pdf has been attached

Please note in the expression above I assumed the name of your Filter array action block is "Filter array".

I haven't tested it myself, let's hope it matches your needs

Ahh thanks.

My idea is allow the flow save email attachments to specific folders in sharepoint based on the a unique identifier - say the file name or prefix etc.
