Reminder emails: Add to an existing triggered email flow, or start a new flow?

I have an existing simple flow that triggers an email when a SharePoint list item's status has been modified. The email goes out instantly when one of my team changes the item status from New to Waiting. Once my team gets what they are waiting for, the internal staff changes status to Complete.

 

I would like to send reminder emails one and two weeks later. I tried a parallel branch flow with two delays after the first triggered email. It seemed to work in testing, but when I had to change the connected data source (a new but identical SP list), the reminders continued even after status was changed to Closed.  I'm not sure what went awry. I have some ideas but really, I'm thinking this was not a good flow. So I'm checking my thinking here. Should I amend my simple, initial flow to add the follow up reminders and if so, how? Or, should I create a new flow just for the reminders, and if so, how do I make it understand the date the item's status originally changed to Waiting?

@OneWinPlease Instead of a delay, I would recommend creating a flow with a recurrence trigger so you can set how often it runs. It should then check the date the initial email was sent and send a reminder one and two weeks later.

Send Emails Based on a 📆 Date Column in SharePoint with Microsoft Power Automate

 

In this Microsoft Power Automate tutorial, I’ll show you how to build a flow that will send a Happy Birthday email to a user based on a date column in a SharePoint list. The SharePoint list also contains a column with a Manager’s name which we’ll use to send a three-day and day of reminder to the user’s manager.

 

This automation will use the Filter Array action to filter out all SharePoint list items where the user’s birthday is today or in three days. This flow can apply to a variety of scenarios such as:

Hi @OneWinPlease 

 

I really recommend that you use a separate flow. Have it trigger every day.

Have it do a Get Items and filter on whatever you can to only get the ones you want to remind on.

 

Then you can calculate how many days has passed since your first triggered instant email.

and if, the MOD of those days / 2 is 0 then you know its another 2 days later and send another reminder.

 

You should however also take into account weekends and possibly holidays so you dont spam them on those days.

We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can.
