I currently have a workflow that extracts an attachment based on Sender email address and Subject description. The flow works great and drops a copy of the attachment into a sharepoint folder. However, the file that is saved changes each time with a new date stamp in the filename. I need a common file name to be saved every time (ex. file123.xlsx) in sharepoint.
I have 3 based stages :
1. On new email attachment - look in Inbox for Sender email and unique Subject
2. Initialize IsFromFilterApplied variable value [false]
3. Condition - Check from email - if true apply Action :
3a. Apply to each Attachment in the email
3b. Select Output from previous steps - Attachments
3b. Create file - Site Address - Folder Path - File Name - File Content
I'm stuck on how to create or rename the attachment in the Create file workflow before it is saved to Sharepoint.
Any suggestions appreciated. I've never used PA before so all this is new. I lucked out by getting the flow to work without any customizing, but I expect something specific like a string will be needed to do what i want.
Simple explanations appreciated (even though I'm sure, not that simple..)

Hi @RMG357 ,
If your attachment type ia nit fixed and you don't know what type of attachment will come, then you can follow below steps.
After step 3a as outlined by you, you can add compose action to store the new name of the file like below
1- Split(filename, '. ')[1] - this will separate out your file extension from your file name.
Now in compose action you added write expression like below
NewFileName. Split(filename, '. ')[1]
Above bold part of expression you can put using expression tab and NewFileName you can type directly in compose action.
Don't forget to ass dot between file name and extension.

If you know about the file type, like you are going to get excel file every time, then you can you can directly put file name of your choice in create file action like below
NewFileName.xlsx

Hello Vivek,
Yes, I do have a known file type (xlsx) that i would use from excel. When changing the Filename in the Create File Action to File Name : Test.xlsx , it didnt result in renaming in the file in sharepoint, it still had the original file name. Could you clarify the process i need to follow to rename the file correctly?
thank you
Rick
Hi Vivek
thank you for your support. to answer your question if I have a known filename, yes it is excel (xlsx). I tried your suggestion to add a static filename (test.xlsx) under the action (Create File), however it didnt result in changing the filename in sharepoint, it remained the same name.
Could you clarify the process for me to rename the file ? Perhaps I need to add another condition below the Create File action ?
thank you
Rick
I was able to solve the issue thanks to your suggestions. Appreciate your help and input !
Hi @Anonymous ,
You can let others know, how you solve your problem. It will be helpful to others.

Hello Vivek and Team
The issue was resolved by first simplifying the original flow since it wouldn't allow me to add the recommended Compose action to rename the file. I believe this was due to the original flow being imbedded in a Conditional action as I couldn't create a Compose action in within the Condition action (Below):
When I removed the Condition action and streamlined the flow I was able to create a Compose action , name the input of the incoming attachment and I was then able to update the Create File action -subsection File Name to a fixed filename of my choice that would automatically upload to Sharepoint.
Thank you again.
