Saving Outlook attachement to specific OneDrive Business Folder doesn't save

Hi there,

I am Pretty new to Power Automate and have Trouble with a very Basic flow.
I want the Attachement of a new E-Mail, send to a defined E-Mail address (set up in my Outlook, but is not the "main address") to be saved in a specific OneDrive Business Folder, which is actually a template.

When I run the test it Shows, that the flow works fine. But the attachments would not be saved/appear in the specific Folder.

I would be so happy if someone has any ideas? I was checking for all the related topics in this community but could not find an answer.

These are my Settings for the flow:

The test results seem to be ok:

Hi!

Did you choose the FolderPath from the dropdown menu, or you just typed it?

Thanx!

Did I make your day? If so, mark my response as 'Solution' !!!

Hi efialttes,

I have used the Dropdown-Menu.

Best regards,

Hi again

Does the flow execution you added to your first post correspond to an email with attachments?

You can inspect the trigger outputs to verify it

Hi @PhilippTiger ,

It seems that you are using the flow template to create the flow.

Please try to create a new flow from blank as follows:

When testing, please make sure that the attachment is indeed included in the received email. In fact, the result displayed by Flow run history is as expected. If the email does not contain attachments, then the actions in Apply to each will not be executed.

In addition, attachment needs to be a file instead of an attached item. If it is the latter, I am afraid it cannot be recognized.

You can check whether the email contains attachments in Flow run history.

Hi,

thank you very much for your Reply!
I tried to run the flow using your instructions and it does save the E-Mail attachement to my OneDrive folder now. But only when receiving the E-Mail on my "main address". As soon as I receive the same E-Mail on another address, set up in Outlook 365, it does not execute the flow.

Is there any idea?

Do you use inbox rules to sort your email?
A flow that uses the connector to save attachments to SharePoint/OneDrive will only respond to email that arrives in a single folder. If you have an inbox rule that sorts the email from different email aliases into different folders the flow will not trigger when the email from the sorted email arrives. I posted about this issue and mentioned a work around that could resolve the issue https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Using-Flows/Save-Attachments-to-OneDrive-flow-seems-to-only-work...

Hi @Johalloran ,

thank you very much for your reply.

I just checked the E-Mail settings, but there are no rules defined for the specific E-Mail address.
I even tried to use your Workaround, but it still doesn't work.

I start getting frustrated, as I just dont get, why it is not working.

I even checked the permissions on that specific Inbox of the wanted E-Mail address, but it seems to be ok.

Is there any other ideas?

Thank you very much for the support. It is really very very much appreciated.

Best regards,
Philipp

Hi all,

I tried a not very "beautiful" workaround, which actually should not be the way, but it works.

1. I have set up a specific folder within my Inbox of the "main" E-Mailadress.

2. I have set up a rule which sends the Incoming E-Mails of the specific address (which does not respond to my flow) to the Folder from step 1.

3. My flow then saves the E-Mail Attachement within a defined OneDrive folder.

4.  It works. But it is very ugly. And I still don't know why it doesnt work in a proper way.

Some elaboration one what I said earlier:

Any inbox rule that moves email to a folder other than the inbox will cause the Flow with the default setting to fail.

When you set up a rule to copy all email to an alternative folder it needs to be the first inbox rule that runs. (I named my folder "Copy")

You should see a duplicate of all your email in the alternative folder. If that is not happening the inbox rule is not functioning.

The Flow needs to be modified so that instead of referencing the "Inbox" it references the alternative folder.

Test it by sending an email with an attachment to yourself.

The only other thing that occurs to me is the sender could be sending the attachments as links to their OneDrive. I am not sure the Flow would know how to download the file to OneDrive.
