Send a email when value in choice column is selected in dataverse table

Hi ,

 

How do I created a flow that will send a email when a certain value in selected in a dataverse table.

I have a Column called "Service Required" with a drop down with choices "yes" and "no".

When "yes" is selected from the drop down, I would like the flow to send and email

I think you can do this with a conditional action where:

 

'Service Required' eq 1  // true and send email

Thanks, do I put it in the conditional triggers ?

You can so the flow only fires when Yes is selected.  If you put in the trigger condition, you don't necessarily need the conditional step because it is always going to be true when fired.  It really depends on the flow, volume, and demand whether you need a trigger condition or just use a conditional step.

 

Sometimes i will use the conditional step first and get the flow working and then migrate to a trigger condition.  Always glad to help! Tom

ah, so in the condition , I can select the dynamic content of "serviced required" is equal to 'yes'. Is that correct?

A yes/no field is equal to 1 or 0 in an OData query but yeah maybe in a condition set to YES and try please.  Always glad to help! Tom

returning a Expression Result as False, so not triggering the email

Got it figured out.  I used the contact table and changed one of the Yes/No columns and it worked.  The value comes over as "true" or "false" so in a conditional setup, you would use true as in this successful example.  Please mark as a solution if this gets you up and running! Thanks, still no joy, could this work if you change the labels in the choices eg. "up" "down" or "left" "right"

For the Yes/No value you are trying to capture, what does it show when you look at the Dataverse action output on a failed run or run that didn't send an email?  I think that's step one to see what it looks like in it's current state.  In this example, from the contact table, the Do Not Phone Yes/No (toggle button) comes back to Automate as true when I turn it on.  Always glad to help! Excellent, that worked. thanks a million!

I would like to try to get it to work with different choices in the labels in the choices eg. "up" "down" or "left" "right".

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
