Send automated email based on SharePoint list

I've read all the related / similar posts but I'm still stuck and hoping for some help.  I'm new to PowerAutomate.

I have a Sharepoint list, created from an Excel table.  I have a couple of columns, Name, Due Date Email etc.

I have set the recurrence to once a day.

I have initalized 2 variables:

  • one to run and send emails on dates 3 days out
  • and the other to run and send emails 7 days out

I have then a Get Items with the filter query:

The issue is that I am trying to send an email, to any assignee, who's Due Date is either 3 or 7 days out.

The flow shows seems to run ok, with no errors, but I receive no emails.

Hi @Horhif

it is because if you see Send Email action is looping through value dynamic content which may be empty array due to loop is not executed due to which emails are not send?

Also tell me which get items dynamic content is this value ? -> 3 days get items or 7 days get items ?

Thanks & Regards,

It was 3 days but I will delete this step.

Is there a way to prove that the Get Items is getting some output?

I know there are two dates in the Sharepoint List which are 3 days and 7 days after today's date.

thanks for you help!

I have put in a compose option to capture the output from my Get Items, and it is returning 0......so you are correct.

There seems to be an issue with the date format.

However, my Get Items is looking for MM/dd/yyyy and this matches the dates in the Sharepoint list.

Hi @Horhif

Yes date format should be yyyy-MM-dd

And coming to your flow design - if making it linear or parallel flow like below > i would say that would be better

linear design

Parallel design

Nived_Nambiar_1-1713291297764.png

This is not the exact flow , but via this flow deisgn - i am just trying to convey how flows should be designed 🙂

Any ideas what the issue is?

I initialise the variable with

formatDateTime(addDays(utcNow(),3),'yyyy-MM-dd')

This is my sharepoint list showing a matching entry:

Horhif_0-1713348487244.png

Yet my compose shows 0 records found.

Hi @Horhif

could you remove the filter query from get items and see how date format looks like in the output ? this is for test so that we can change the date format in formatdate time accordingly.
