Setting up a condition to send an email when a Microsoft Planner Task is Not Complete

I am having trouble setting up a condition to send me an email if a task is not done after the delay. I tried different things but nothing seems to be working.

I have successfully received the email if the task is not complete. Once the left section has been completed and the task has been updated to completed, the condition is still saying that the task is incomplete. Whenever I include the 'List Tasks' action the condition is caused to become a subcategory of the 'for each' action. After running the flow I get the message that there are no actions to repeat or I end up receiving multiple emails rather than one.

If anyone could please help me out, I am still brand new to Power automate.

I will include an image for reference.

@Envlucky After the Delay action you are missing a Get Task Details action. You only have a single Get Task Details action in your flow and it occurs BEFORE the delay action.

Currently, your flow doesn't check the task again (after the delay). You've only delayed the Condition action from running. So the details of your task being returned will output the details from when the Get Task Details action ran (which is before the delay). LMK if you need further clarification.

When you add attachments to a Planner task from your computer, the files are automatically saved in the Documents document library of the SharePoint site associated with the M365 Group of your plan. Instead of downloading email attachments to OneDrive or SharePoint just so you can add them to a Planner Task—automate it.

In this Microsoft Power Automate Tutorial—I’m going to show you how build a flow that will take your email attachments and add them to a Planner task. @Envlucky Can you provide more insights on your flow logic? I'm unclear the role the MS forms action is playing in your flow. You stated above that you have over 25 different forms. How do those forms connect with this flow? The more information you can provide the easier it is to provide recommendations.

I made an error in my original post with the action that is required after the Delay. You need to add a Get a Task action. This action will output your task percentage complete (the Get task details action will not).

Tip: Add Compose actions to your flow to help troubleshoot. In my demo, I've added a Compose action before the delay and after the delay to output the Percentage Complete dynamic content.

Ensure you are renaming your actions to keep your flow organized.

Again, I'm unclear on how the MS Form action fits into your flow. If you can provide more insight I could offer some recommendations.

Hi!
A couple of quick questions:

  • Is your condition based on the state of your planner item when your flow initially kicks off instead of the current state of the item after the delay?
  • How long is your delay? Could you accomplish something similar with a scheduled task?

@Envlucky After the Delay action you are missing a Get Task Details action. You only have a single Get Task Details action in your flow and it occurs BEFORE the delay action.

So the condition should be based off of the planner item after the delay, I have tried getting the task after the delay but I seem to be having the same issue.

My delay is for 6 hours, and I am trying to keep it all in one flow since the task is created every single day, therefor changing the task ID every time a new task is created.

Ah! I see. That would have been my next question/suggestion.  Thanks for the additional info.

Another set of questions:

  • Do you still need the flow after the item has been updated?  If not, can you add a terminate action to end the flow if your condition is met?
  • Could you create an end of the day flow that checks planner for any open tasks and then sends an email?

Yes, I do need the flow since it is set to repeat once every day, therefor I will not be able to add a terminate action although I have tried on the condition side.

I can possibly create an end of the day flow but this flow has to be created for over 25 different Microsoft forms therefore would create an abundance of flows.

I apologize I am very to power automate and I am trying to figure out this issue since it seems to be the only issue I am running into.

I have tried doing that but I cannot seem to get the Percent complete from the 'Get Task Details' after the delay I have also tried using the 'List tasks' and I get the same error. Is there anything I can do?

I apologize it is my first time using power automate and this section is the only one I cannot seem to fix.
