Sharepoint - Update Item error - One or more field types are not installed properly

Hi,

I am stuck on this issue and i have ran out of options upon how to rectify it as it might be an easy one for someone with a bit more experience. I am creating a basic flow that puts Form responses into a SharePoint list and updates some file properties within SharePoint. Half the flow is below and it works up until the Update File Properties action which in my troubleshooting has come down to Title/name.

I am taking over the SharePoint Admin and not even sure why the Field displays as Name instead of Title but i suspect that is why my flow is not working. If anybody knows why this is happening, please can they share some info around this also. It is probably a setting but i cannot find it.

I attempted to change the name of Title but just pressing save as it was not modified before that time and was failing before that save event.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

With Thanks.

Matt

I've done a small test on my end, but the extension on the end of the filename is in fact necessary:

Try putting a file extension after the name of your file. Normally you put the dynamic value, [File Name], from the "Convert file" action in the "Attachments Name". This value does have a file extension.

You've created your own variable file name, but you're not ending with .pdf of whatever file extension you use.

In my little test I could open the attachment when there was a file extension, but not when it was missing.

Without file extension:

With file extension:

Hope it helps eliminating another factor!

Furthermore you can check if all the other actions are performing as it should.

Set a "Create file" action after the "Convert File" action to store the conversion in OneDrvie.

Try a "Terminate" action after the newly created "Create File" action and run the test.

Go to OneDrive and check if the file is created correctly and you're able to open it.

If yes, then you know it has to do with the last action.

---

You could also try naming the 1st "Create file" filename with the correct filename -> then convert that file -> paste the dynamic value, [File Name], of the "Convert file" action in the "Attachment Name" of the mail. to see if that works.

As far as I know for document files in SharePoint:

"Title" is not the same as "Name"

Title = is used for SharePoint List items

Name = Is used for SharePoint Document files

You are trying to update the title of a SharePoint List item in your Flow, but it is actually a document file.

That's why there is an error.

To change the Name of a document file you have two options:

1. Either create a new file (copy and on "Create a new File" give that file the correct name, then delete old file)

In your Flow you already have an action: "Create a File", there you can set the name of the file.

or

2. Change the name of a document file through "Send HTTP request" and change the Fileleafref. This will change the filename of an existing document.

Thanks @Bobron That really helped as i see what i was doing wrong here and corrected it.

Just as an FYI this is the final product (80% perfect) as the Email attachment does not come through as a PDF but can be opened from the email and a program is selected each time. I will take this as a win.

The email Action is below and i have tried to put an extension on the body but that does not change it and the file will not open.

@Bobron That 100% works as it was the Attachment name that needed the .PDF extension. That makes my solution 95% as the last thing if your interested but it is not a major concern is the Word template is being populated with a default time and the fields in SharePoint are set to Date only. The Word Template is the potential issue here but there is no way that i change the format of fields in the Developer tab.

Example below:

Word Template:

I will accept the below as my solution anyway and you have really assisted as thank you very much.

Glad I was able to help!

About the issue with the Word template and populating the SharePoint metadata I've got some questions:

1. How do you populate the SharePoint Date Column? Inside the Flow, action: "Update file properties"?

1.1 The problem is then that the column in SharePoint doesn't display the time?

Try editing the Date Column in SharePoint -> choose "Include Time":

Bobron_2-1686722698207.png

Bobron_1-1686722693134.png

1.2 Is the question how to retrieve this data so you're able to display it in the Date Column?

Takes more time to explain, so if this is the issue, then let me know.

1.3 You're able to retrieve the information from Word, but the Flow won't update the Date Column properly?

Can have something to do with formatting of your dateTime.
