Trello Label ID Error

trello error.png

HI why am I getting this error? I have narrowed down the cause to the Label-ID field I have tried everything in this field putting text, 1 but it comes up with the same error when I delete the field the flow is successful.

What is the correct format for using the Label-ID field in Trello.

Hi @pladavm,

That is because the Label ID format. Currently the Label ID field only accept the numeric format.

And as a limitaion, there is no available action to get the Label ID, I think the possible solution for this should be to suggest Product team add a dropdown list for this field. I will collect this as a feedback.

The Label ID field is in the following format:

5859eea203cf6406b3b6352f

The available workaround currently I could think out is the following:

1. Create a card manually at Trello side, then add all the available Labels within this card, then use the Get Card By ID in Microsoft Flow, after that, use the Label Ids array to reference the Labels, add a compose Action after the Get card by ID, in compose Input, copy and paste the following:

"@body('Get_a_card_by_Id')?['idLabels']?[0]"

Note that, the end [0] is used to locate the items in the array, so if you would ike to change the Label, change the [0] to [1] or other. After that, use the Output as the Label ID field input:

Hey @v-micsh-msft thank you for your reply would it not be possible via some code to do this:

Note as per Trello website: https://developers.trello.com/advanced-reference/label:

PUT /1/labels/[idLabel]/name as the code or something like this?

Hey @v-micsh-msft I tried the solution and it works and is great however the only problem is I still have to manually tell it which label to choose (i.e. as per your post choose 0,1,2 etc in the array formula). Is there a way I can tell it to match the label_ID against  the sender's email address and if a match choose this label_id?

Hi @pladavm,

Try the switch Action:

Search by service when you build flows and other new features

Which allows you to configure different approch based on the value under the switch.

If switch is not ideal, you may also consider take use of condition, or nested condition:

Add a condition to a flow

Hi @v-micsh-msft thanks for your response. The issue is how to link the  Trello Label D to match the senders email address since MS Flow won't allow to use input text direct into the label ID.

The Switch function or Condition etc wouldn't matter either option can use but still have this issue.

Hi @pladavm,

Sorry for not being so clearly.

I mean we could use switch or condition to filter the sender's email address, then use different compose Action, doing this allows we to add multiple Compose for different Label ID, so that we could add multiple labels with the same card.

And yes, the limitation for the method above is the label is somehow hardcoded in Microsoft Flow.

Another way is we coud build up an Excel table reference, one column for Email Address, another for the trello Label ID, but this would restrict one Email with a single Trell Label ID, which I don't think is a proper way.

After the Email trigger, use the Excel Get rows action, then add condition to filter the special Email Address, after that, use the label id field as the available value input for your next action.

Post back if you have any further concern or questions.

Regards,

Michael

I was thinking something similar but instead the workflow would be:

When a new email is received -> lookup table in Excel  if  unable to find - > create a row and input email address and a sequence number (in the next column).  Since MS Flow can not add the email address to the trello card label I can get zapier to do it for now.

Then when it comes to Email to Trello - it uses the array formula you did but instead of "0" it look for the sequence number in the Excel table which matches the email address.

As long as the sequence number matches the order the email address was added to the trello card label id it should work yes?
