Unable to create SharePoint Reminder Flow

I am following the steps outlined in this document to create a SharePoint Reminder.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/create-sharepoint-reminder-flows

When I get to step 6 and click Create, I get this error.

"Creating a Flow from the requested template requires parameter 'sharepoint.emailSubject' to be specified"

I have seen other posts with the same error and replies saying that it was a bug that has recently been resolved. Is this just something where I need to wait until the fix is applied to our tenant?

Hi @CWJJMICRO ,

The root cause is the action has changed and the template is broken.  I was able to duplicate the error message as well.  That said, here's the corrected flow you can make yourself at make.powerautomate.com.

The email results:

The successful flow.

My trigger runs once a day at 6 AM, 7 days a week.

trice602_2-1699374921935.png

Next I use the action Get Items and my expression for the filter is:

formatDateTime(addDays(utcNow(),5),'yyyy-MM-dd')

This expression checks if the DateTime column I want to check is equal to today's date +5 days so in this example I have a list item with the date of 11/12/2023.

Lastly, I send the email reminder.  Notice the subject is a required field and is the root cause of the walkthrough error message.

Let me know when you have this up and running.  To test, make an item with the due date of 11/12/2023 and test please.

Hi @CWJJMICRO ,

You can modify the flow so it works for anyone assigned to an item.  In my example, my list as an assigned to column which contains the name of the person.

Next I use Get User action to get the email address of the person assigned, and instead of a notification, I use send email V2 (which does the same thing as sending a notification) but is dynamic and will run for the assigned user.  So in this modified version, no one has to do anything for this to run at 6 AM and send notifications to the responsible person.

That said, please mark one or more of my replies as a solution to help others find these replies too!  These are both FAQs and marking as such will helps find the walkthroughs, descriptions, and screenshots. 😀

Hi @trice602,

Thanks so much for the reply. This does what we what we need, although I don't think I will be able to get my end users to use it.

I appreciate the help!
