Update task detail - Show on card - by Send HTTP request

Hello, i am pretty frustrated of managing this working, firstly, one simple attribute but what you have to done to set it is insane! I want to have clicked "Show on card" (previewType=checklist) by default in Update task details step, so i found that you can do this by Send HTTP request. Here is another similar thread but i havent found any working information here Solved: Re: Show on Card? Microsoft Planner - Page 3 - Power Platform Community

I am getting errors with URI of the tasks, where i can get proper adresses of my planner tasks??  https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/planner/tasks/{task-id}/details isnt working and gets me this error: URI path is not a valid Graph endpoint, path is neither absolute nor relative or resource/object is not supported for this connector. Resources: me,users Objects: messages, mailFolders, events, calendar, calendars, outlook, inferenceClassification. Uri: https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/planner/tasks/SDBW-yG01Uyy1LIm3A1tbZcAO7JJ/details

Here you can see my flow:

btw Hello DamoBird, i hope this will notify you @DamoBird365

thanks

P.S. thank MS very much for translating names of functions and attributes and making it even harder to use english guides(you can see in the screenshot) :-!

Hi @cng,

It should be listed under the groups connector. Try searching for the connector first (it has a different icon, blue with a lot of white dots).

Hi @cng,

It looks like you are using the Send an HTTP request action of the Office 365 Outlook connector. That connector doesn't allow you to interact with the planner plan.

Can you try this request with the Send an HTTP request action of the Office 365 Groups connector instead? (In that other thread they were using that specific connector).

Happy to help out! 🙂

Hello @Expiscornovus and thanks for quick reply, do you mean this other one(in the screenshot)? It has same problem. I can choose from two https requests.

OMG yes! That was the right one, i dont know why it wasnt listed when i typed "HTTP", only those two office requests showed so i thought they rework it. Thank you very much, it is working. Have a nice day.

I am only able to see send an HTTP request V2. Have they removed version one? V2 is not working with the provided URI

Its been a long time i worked with this flow and i dont know why i am not using this in my final flow, but in earlier versions i see that i was using V1 but it has some error - bad connection or what(see on 1st screen) so they must replace it with V2. Still have hard time to search for "Office 365 groups" because its somehow translated to our language but wrong way so i must scroll way down to find it manually(screen 2).

I can also only see the V2, which isn't working, giving me this error no matter what I've tried: "URI path is not a valid Graph endpoint, path is neither absolute nor relative or resource/object is not supported for this connector."

From the documentation, it looks like they've removed the Send an HTTP Request action and its replacement, Send an HTTP Request V2, is restricted to only work for groups: "There is one segment that is supported: /groups."

I think this means it now won't work with any planner resources, making this workaround/"solution" completely nonviable. Another way of mass-updating planner tasks to show the checklist on the cards would be greatly appreciated, if anyone has one.

Hi @JackRClancy

You can use an HTTP action instead of the Send an HTTP Request v2 action, that one should still work.

Hi Expiscornovus,

Can you provide an example of what that would look like, I am also struggling with this change to the HTTP Request to get a checklist to show on card

Hi @nevjmac,

Yeah, the setup should be pretty similar.

Main difference is that you have to handle the permissions & authentication yourself. This is done by registering an app in Entra ID: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/auth-register-app-v2

Other major difference is that this action is unfortunately part of a premium connector.

Thank you for the details. Since I've already sunk half a day into trying to make this work, it's just not worth the time to set up the authentication at this point, but hopefully this helps others in the same boat!

Thank you for this.

I have looked into this and I am able to add an app to Entra, but again this is a step that I have absolutely no knowledge on what I am doing. You have linked a generic guide but is there a specific one for my requirements?

I'm also not sure what you have filled into the Tennant, Client ID and Secret fields.

Hi @nevjmac,

The tenant id, client id and secret will be specific for your app setup.

Below is a blog with a bit more detailed steps (which also demonstrates how you can use this app for Graph API in a HTTP action).

Hi @Expiscornovus  is there a way to show not just checklist but also description (Notes) of the task in the same time? I copied the HTTP request task and changed the "checklist" to "description" in the body, but it does not work. Any idea? THX
