Updating a Parent folder when a button flow is activated.

Hello community of very helpful people, 

I am trying to figure out how to update a parent folders column when a child file has been used for a flow button - see example below

Name               Status

ParentFolder    Active

(ParentFolder>ChildFile)

ChildFile inside folder is then used to start a power automate flow to book a job

I would then like for the Parent folder's status to be updated to 'Booked'

Hi @bluelemon247 

Do want to change the ParentFolder‘s Status when a new file created in it?

I set up a simple flow you can refer to as below:

This is my ParentFolder in Sharepoint library.

Flow in details:

Then save Flow and can test it.

When a new file is created in ParentFolder, the ParentFolder’s Status will be changed from Active to Booked

Thank you for getting back to me I really appreciate the help.

However I have tried to add this to my existing flow and when I get to the 'Get folder metadata using path' section it is not coming up with the dynamic content 'Folder path'.

I have attached screen shots of the flow below

Because you use For a selected file trigger, so please add the Get file properties action before Get folder metadata using path as below and try again.

I'm sorry to be a bother and really appreciate your help on this issue I think we are almost there however I have come across a couple of issues regarding the URL input:

The first error message below crops up when I'm trying the use the dynamic input 'URL' from 'Get file properties 2' -

Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Update_file_properties_2' inputs at line '1' and column '2596': 'The template language expression 'body('Get_file_properties_2')['URL']' cannot be evaluated because property 'URL' doesn't exist, available properties are '@odata.etag, ItemInternalId, ID, Editor, Editor#Claims, Modified, OData__dlc_DocId, OData__dlc_DocIdUrl, SharedWithUsers, SharedWithUsers@odata.type, SharedWithUsers#Claims, SharedWithUsers#Claims@odata.type, Created, Author, Author#Claims, OData__DisplayName, {Identifier}, {IsFolder}, {Thumbnail}, {Link}, {Name}, {FilenameWithExtension}, {Path}, {FullPath}, {ContentType}, {ContentType}#Id, {IsCheckedOut}, {VersionNumber}'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions for usage details.'.

The second error message below shows when trying to use the only other possible input 'ItemURL' from 'For a selected file' Trigger - 

Invalid URL value.

A URL field contains invalid data. Please check the value and try again.

Unfortunately I cant seem to leave it blank as it has a red required star next to it - see image below

The next issue I fear I may face is the the 'Booked' Status change may appear on the first of the files in the path

eg Documents/Projects/parent folder/file

So when i select the file rather than making the 'Parent folder' booked it will make the Documents folder booked

If you have any suggestions I really appreciate it.
