Use 'Display Name' to identify a SharePoint List

Hi

I am using 'get user profile' to get the display name of a Microsoft Form responder. I was wondering, how do I get power automate to recognise the display name as a list name in SharePoint?

As you can see in the image, it doesn't return all the columns in the list, Just 'Item' with the hint ' item to create'

Context: Each staff member will have their own list.

I'd also like to be able to use power automate to duplicate the list so I don't have to manually do that for everyone but i can put that in another topic?

@LukeSykes have a look at a similar question which was asked here and the solution used Send an HTTP Request to SharePoint rather than the Create item action.

You could do the following:

As @RobElliott mentioned, using "Send an HTTP request to SharePoint" action is the method to get to know whether the list exists or not. The steps are:

1) Check whether the folder exists or not using an HTTP action with the following URI:

_api/web/lists?$select=Title&$filter=Title eq '@{outputs('Get_user_profile_(V2)')?['body/displayName']}'

2) Get the output of that action:

outputs('Send_an_HTTP_request_to_SharePoint')?['body']?['d']?['results']

3) If lenght of the ouput is greater than 0, it means a list with that name exists.

Thank you for this - however create item still doesn't display all the columns...

Am I missing something?

@LukeSykes you can't use Create item for this, it won't find the list using a dynamic list name therefore can't display the columns. Hence the Send an HTTP Request to SharePoint action.

So do I use the same URI and the column names as the headers?

You don't need the "create item" action. Just use the "Send an HTTP request to SharePoint" to check whether the list exists or not.

Is this correct or am I missing something else? As I'm getting the below error

The type SP.ListCollection does not support HTTP PATCH method.
