When an item si modified updates the item immediately.

Hi,

trying to build a simple flow (Update Status) for Microsoft Lists where I want my status to change from "New" to "In Progress" when a user changes anything in the item.

I use "When an item or file is modified" (Sharepoint).

 

The problem is I also use "Update item" and "Send an HTTP request to SharePoint" actions for the same item when creating it because I generate unique Case ID, create folder and send link back to MS Lists. 

I guess it is enough for the "When an item or file is modified" trigger to think that the item was actually modified and changes the status to "In Progress".

 

What I need for the "When an item or file is modified" is to start watching for changes only after the first round of updates. 

Something like a condition "Modified" is grater than "Created" + 2min would do it. But I cant figure out how to add time to the dynamic content (Created)

@Piettro13  if you use a service account for your flow connection, then you can add trigger condition as below to prevent the flow run when service account updates the list item

@not(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/Editor/Email'],'accountname@domain.com'))

If order to check changes are made to specific column in list you can add Get Changes action, using it you can check if specific column value has changed or not.

Hello Anna,

yes, correct. I dont want the second flow to trigger when the first flow updates the item.

I have two flows. The first flow generates unique ID and updates the item with this new ID. Then I have this second flow that is supposed to update the status. But I want the satus to be updated only after someone (me or another user) changes something manually in the Lists.

So the „Get Changes“ action seem to be the solution for me.

First I check with the condition that CaseID was modified. That is the automated action triggered when the item is created. If the condition is true, then I dont want anything to happen.

If there is any other change for the item it checks whether the „O/C“ value is New, if yes, it updates the field to „In progress“, if not, it does nothing…

So far all the test worked. Thank you Anna.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
