cannot add dynamic content to email body

Hi,

I'm trying to make a flow to send an email when an item is created in a SharePoint list. I get the list of columns when I click on the box where you can customize the email body but when I click on a column it doesn't add the column to the body.

However, I can add dynamic content to any other field such as receiver of the email, cc, etc.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Anton

This is definitely not expected - I just tested it out and it was working for me.

To help us narrow down the issue, could you please share the below:

1. What browser are you using when you see the issue?

2. What types of columns are present in the SharePoint list?

3. Are you able to add any other dynamic content to the email body? (e.g. if you have another step to call yammer, can you use those fields in the email body?)

Also, if you could please test it out in another browser to see if it resolves the issue (e.g. Edge vs. IE vs. Chrome), that would be very help. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Hi,

Did you mean that after you click on one column name in the dynamic content list, it will not show in the field? Nothing will show? Maybe a screenshot could help us understand the situation better.

Mona

Having this problem too in Edge and Chrome. I can add fields to the Subject line but not the body.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for all of your comments. Yes, @v-monli-msft my problem is that the fields list not appearing when I want to add a dynamic text in the body of the email.

I noticed that the problem occurs mainly on Edge and when the cursor is at the end of a text string. Moving the cursor to random places brings up the fields list sometimes. I hardly had the issue on Chrome in last 2 days.

Not sure what details you need to pinpoint the root cause. Please let me know if you need any further details.

Cheers,

Anton

Why is this the accepted solution? This is just an inquiry for further troubleshooting.

Matthew - is the issue that you cannot see any tokens, or just that some of the tokens are missing? Also, which connector is the issue happening for? Is it for O365 Outlook, Outlook.com (personal), the built-in mail connector, or something else?

We are trying on our end and cannot get a repro in Chrome or Edge, and our normal logs / telemetry are not showing anything. If you could capture a screenshot that would be very useful as well.

We suspect there is an issue on our client side, but it may not manifest as an error for us.

I can see the tokens.

I can add them to the Subject of the email.

Yesterday they would not add to the body, now I can add only one. (screen shot)

Office 365 Outlook

Both Chrome and Edge

FlowIssue.png

Got it - this helps a lot. So you are able to see all the tokens, but when you click on them nothing happens. e.g. in your screenshot, clicking on "Following Count" has no effect?

Update: we have a reliable repro now. Thanks very much for the help; we will report back ASAP.

Hello,

I have the same issue and yet to find a solution. Did you have a chance to come up with a soluiton for the case above.

Canpolat

Thanks,

Hi there,

I am also experiencing the same issue - the only thing that "fixes" this sometimes is to delete the entire text block and start again - or avoid new lines.  But this is not reliable and I can still experience this "adding dynamic content" bug.

Excatly same what i am currently doing but actually somebody needs to fix that bug asap if they want to make this product viable.

We have fixed a few issues in this area in the last month - but there are still some rough edges with multi-line inputs + dynamic outputs from previous steps. The team is currently investgiating and is targeting to find a complete fix for next week.

Has there been something finalized on this?

I have an approval workflow that when I initially set it up, had no issues with adding dynamic content to the body of an email.

However, now that I am trying to modify that email, when I try to insert dynamic content, I'll set the cursor to the place in the email where I want it, and then when I click the DC selection I want, it shows up at some random place within the text.

I've tried this on Edge and Chrome browsers... attempted to try again in IE, but couldn't login to MS Flow at all from there.

Would love to know if there is a solution!
