Please help me fix my flow, it works great except it sends multiple emails when triggered. Here is the flow I built.
Hi,
You did an amazing job posting the picture, but I am still unable to tell if the Send email is Inside of one of the Apply to each loops. Thats my assumption as to why its doing it.
No it is not within the apply to each loop, that is why I am so confused.
Hi Thank
That is great.
Can you tell if there are multiple sends, or what I am guessing is multiple Triggers of the flow that makes it send more than once since you have create or update?
So when you look in the history is it 1 or more of the same "email" going out for the same row/record but in a flow its only 1 send,
So Steve changes something (update). It should only send 1 email in that flow he triggered. Is that accurate that its only one
Steve changes another thing (update). Now it will send another for the same row and over and over as long as people make changes.
But is it 1:1 change to email or 1:M where a single flow literally sends multiples (either based on a loop, or based on too many things in the To list, or some weird bug)
Also can you verify the email list that it goes too, making sure there are no duplicates or extras in there
So as a test, you update one column in one record and your saying if you have 5 rows in the list it sends 5 emails? and you only see 1 run in the history or 5.
please drop pictures
Cheers

I updated one item and it shows the flow run for every item in the list.
OK thanks and sorry just one last validation question and then I will see what the heck. There is another option as to what is happening:
1. Can you please verify that for just like 2 of them that they are pointing to a different line item(id./row)
2. Can you click on go to the Details page of the Flow, and click on the History (for all Runs).
Then in the filter on the top right, select all running instances and see if any are running (since itsa trigger) its possible you just have a ton of orphaned ones running.
Other things I can think of are
a) somehow you have a lot of instances running in the background and so its kicking them all off, which is possible. I've seen this and you have to shut them all down (its possible lol)
b) its a ton of weird retries from SharePoint
c) Wait... do you have any calculated columns??? so that when certain things get updated, it will trigger all the rows to change?
d) that one column thats getting updated is in fact somehow setup to update the other rows.. or the tool that is DOING the updating is actually NOT filtering on the row it means to update, but instead is accidentally doing a full all rows update.
What is the UI that update the list??, could be a bug there.
Can you verify in the SharePoint list, whether all the rows have a column or more than a column that have ALL the same values when it shouldn't? Pointing to a bug
Cheers

When I woke up this morning there were over 200 emails and they were still coming since I left the flows on overnight. I had to turn off the flow to get them to stop. Since I turned them off there does not show any running flows in the history. I do not have any calculated columns and I do not have columns that have the same information. It is weird I don't know what in the world I did. ahaha
So it seems you must have had a lot of extra copies running.
Does it now only send 1 properly? the list of things I gave were really the only things that would cause it, with my first one bieing the most suspect.
When you are using Triggers and testing a lot of times people accidentally leave them running not realizing it.

Were you to verify my question #1
1. Can you please verify that for just like 2 of them that they are pointing to a different line item(id./row)
If each triggered flow has the exact same id or a different id. I just want to verify its kicking off for all. Since its only sending 1 per trigger.
Hello Jen
can you click on one of the ones thats been running for hours and tell take a picture of where it shows its running please or the whole thing if you can
All of them seem to be stuck at Apply to each. It acts like it is an infinite loop and instead of just sending an email for the actual item that was updated it is sending one for every list item that has the status of update or final. It is very frustrating, SharePoint designer was a lot simpler to fix these types of situations.
Weird so they are possibly hanging because its spamming so many. Thats the only thing I can think of since it says 5s but its been hours
BTW did you say you got this from a Template? I've just had a lot of people lately that have and the templates are the issue
