need to extract file name extension

Hi there

I have a flow which adds the time to the filename. it works fine, but the filename extension is now before the inserted time instead of after the inserted time.

It is like this: "filename.pdf Fri, 19 Nov 2021 14_43-32 GMT"

it should be like this: "filename Fri, 19 Nov 2021 14_43-32 GMT.pdf"

Additionaly, I am looking for a way to just add the date without the time...

if there's no dynamic content with the file name without extension, you can extract the extension from the file name

last(split(<file name with extension>,'.'))

remove it from the file name

replace(<file name with extension>, last(split(<file name with extension>,'.')), '')

and build the new file name using the expressions and the date

And for the date without time just select a different format in the 'Convert Time Zone' action or use formatDateTime(...) expression, e.g.

formatDateTime(<the date>,'yyyy-MM-dd')

unfortunately, it does not work, maybe just because I don't know how to do it.

I do not have the "file nam with extension" command in the selection so I don't know how to build this two commands. 

fyi: I need the file name only, the ending is always ".pdf", so I can insert this part manualy.

so you do get x-ms-file-name-encoded when hovering over it you should see the expression behind it insert that expression into your expression (usually it should work to just while writing switch the tab and insert the name)

"file name with expression" was just a placeholder since its different for every person

I'd change the trigger. The 'When a file is created in a folder' returns strange dynamic contents, it's much better to use 'When a file is created (properties only)' where you can select a specific folder as well and get much useful output.

ok, get it, thx for the hint.

Now I do have an other problem. Seems like the "file name encoded" looks like this: "U3dpc3Nwb3N0LWxhYmVsLTIyNzA3NDkxLnBkZg==" instead of normal (readable) text. What can I do there to get (keep) the original file name?

If I switch the trigger to the one you suggest, I do not have the possibility to ad the file content in the "create file" process step (if I am right).

As long as you have the file ID, you can add the 'Get file content' action that'll get the file content which you can later use to create the file.

you should have the 'Identifier' dynamic content that can be used to get the file content.

unfortunately, I don't see "Identifier" in the selection. What am I doing wrong?
