"Apply to each" failure

Hello, all!  Power Automate informs me that this is a "new issue" and I should ask the community for help!  I get the following error when I test a flow I've created:

The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@triggerOutputs()?['body']' is of type 'Object'. The result must be a valid array.

The purpose of the flow is to send the responses from a Form I created to a pair of other people in my office.  Here's what the flow looks like.  Does anyone have any tips on what I'm doing wrong?  Thanks so much!

First of all, this forum is for Desktop flows, but your question is about cloud flows. You should post it here: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/bd-p/BuildingFlows

Secondly, your screenshot does not actually show the actual error. You should expand the Apply to each loop to show us the action that really failed, and its error.

ExpressionEvaluationFailed. The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each_3' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@first(outputs('Sorted_list_based_on_modified_on'))['modifiedon']' is of type 'String'. The result must be a valid array.

In my previous step i did sort , in next step i want to extract first item on modified on

Hi @Nived_Nambiar The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@{triggerOutputs()?['body/Reviewers']}
' is of type 'String'. The result must be a valid array.

Can you help please

Hi @smalumi

Remember one thing here : Apply to each loop requires array/collections type data to be iterated upon. The data which you have provided here is of type String as detected from error so we can't use it directly as array as it is single value. Another approach would be to convert that value as array using array expression bounding over the Reviewers dynamic content.

But i feel that something is wrong with your flow logic, could you explain what you are trying to acheieve so that it would help in resolving the query 🙂

Hi @Nived_Nambiar

The goal is to send email notification to reviewers upon creation or modification trigger. Reviewers(multiple) receive review notification and are able to respond with a completed notification  - Separate flow. Pls view message in your inbox.

Thanks

@Nived_Nambiar Pls explain what the output will read for "convert that value as array using array expression bounding over the Reviewers dynamic content"

Hi @smalumi

The flow should be like this

Nived_Nambiar_0-1695955621263.png

There is no need of get items here as per the context of flow which u have replied in earlier thread.

Try this and let me know whether it works for you or not 🙂

Hi @Nived_Nambiar

Thank you for your response..

Looks great but there are other fields that will also need to go into the email.

Please see below Create Item if Condition is Yes

Hi @smalumi

I did not see the usage of create item in your flow before, also if you need to add data to your email from list item, you can add it to body of email

Thanks again @Nived_Nambiar

With regards to the same flow, My trigger is "when an item or  file is modified" ,"Get Items"  from library and update SP List, then "Apply to each" specific Metadata from the library  that will be sent to multiple reviewers.

smalumi_0-1695973023089.png

It seems we have omitted the SP List in the above.

Looking forward to your response😊

Hi @Nived_Nambiar

I adopted your suggestion - it gave the error below. Please kindly let me know

Hi @smalumi

Regarding the error, i need to ask one question

1. Does the Reviewers column is multi selection column in sharepoint ?

if not then there is no need to use apply to each flow then, you can directly specify reviewer's email to send email action.

Hi @Nived_Nambiar

Yes, the reviewers column is set to multi-selection in Sharepoint. There will always be multiple reviewers.
