run single flow with multiple "get user profile"

I want to run a flow that filters data based on "office location" in a users profile and then an email to that person with the html tables created.  I have 7 different "list records" happening with filtered data based on user profile.  I need this to run for about 12 profiles and want to do it in the same workflow and not create 12 workflows with a get user profile.  How can I have the flow run basically 12 times.  The current flow works perfectly with just 1 "get user profile", now to add the other 11 profiles.

So I figured out that the previous step you shared works. So I've appended the manager display name to an array variable. However, when I bring this value outside of the loop, for some reason it is not correctly capturing the managers. In one case there should be 5 managers, but the output results in 6. In another case there should be 11 and the output results in 21. I'm stumped given then 'append to array variable' output looks like a single manager display name for each.

The same thing happens when I append to a string variable.

You should probably be appending it to a string variable rather than an array.

The exact same issue occurs when I append to a string variable.

Can you show me the Apply to Each loop you are using?

Here's the apply to each loop:

apply to each loop.JPG

The output from the append to string variable looks like this with the manager's display name showing as the value (you can see in the example below there are only 5):

string to variable output.JPG

Then, I add the string to variable content to my list (which is used to create a CSV table).

string to variable output1.JPG

The CSV populates 6 names (repeating one 1x) instead of the 5 shown in the string to variable input.

This issue occurs in every instance where there is more than one nominee. In one case there are 11 nominees and 21 managers end up getting listed in the CSV.

There is an issue with your logic here.  The loop will create a string that contains the managers of all the nominees.  But then when you use that to populate your array, you are populating it for each nominee, but using the string that contains all the nominees.  I also don't get why you have two append to string actions?

If what you are looking for is the array in your last action then that should be in the loop in place of the append to string action.  That way the array will have all the information about each nominee, including the manager.  That's what the original screenshot I posted was all about.

There is only 1 append to string variable. I just took multiple screenshots which might have looked confusing.

I did try the same thing using an 'append to array variable' action instead of 'append to string variable'. The output is identical with the CSV file showing repeated manager names with no clear pattern, while the append to string variable OR append to array variable input looks like there is just 1 manager name per nominee.

I'm definitely stumped on this one.

Is the Append to Array inside the Loop or outside?  If you have a set of nested loops then the managers will keep adding to the string each time the outer loop runs.  If that's the case then you need something to empty the manager string after you use it to add the managers info to the Array.

Its definitely some kind of a logic issue at this point, rather than syntax.  But I'm still not really clear on what the actual input and output of the flow are supposed to look like.  Do nominees have more than one manager?

Are you a Microsoft employee? I really appreciate how many times you've responded to me 🙂 Hopefully you're getting paid for this haha!

The append to array is inside the loop. When I try to place it outside the loop I get the following error:

"This action cannot be dragged out of foreach as it depends on an action inside foreach"

Each employee only has one manager. This shows up in the output of the 'get manager' Office 365 action which has a variety of profile information including department, display name, phone, location, etc. The input is the employee email (which I get from the 'get user profile nominee' step).

I just simplified my flow to remove the 'get user profile' step given the inputs for 'get user profile' and 'get manager profile' are the same. Unfortunately the output of my array outside of the loop still shows 21 manager names, while the append to array variable only shows 11 names.

No, I'm just and independent who volunteers on the forums.

If I'm understanding this right then you have a list of users who have been nominated.  And you want to produce a CSV file of the nominations, but include the user's manager.  If that is the case then you only need one loop that loops through the list of users retrieved in the Get Items.  Then inside the loop look up each user's manager and populate the object that you append to the array.  No need to append manager's to a string variable unless you need that list of names later after you exit the loop.  ONe reason for maintaining that kind of a list would be to send the resulting CSV file to all the managers.  But I don't think that is in the mix right now.

Well I am amazed at your diligence in helping me. Thank you!!

Your latest answer helped spark what I think the problem may be. The loop that I've created to find the manager is within another loop which basically finds the nominators manager (among other information about the nomination). The nominator is easier because it's just one name in the SharePoint people field, while nominees can have up to 10.

So the loop that I've shared with you (get nominee manager) is within another loop (get nominator manager). I'm trying to append the nominee manager list name to CSV array which is created in the first loop.

That would almost surely cause the kind of duplication you are experiencing.

It was! The previous loop had already started appending names to the array. I ended up setting a variable using a blank space prior to my nominee loop and that did the trick!

Thanks again for all of your help with this 🙂

Hi! Thanks for the array! works like a charm, but for some reason I'm the only one still receiving the emails and not the others into the array? it has to be with permissions?

Please post your question as a new question in the forums.  It will get more notice that way and you'll have a much better chance to get an answer.  Others will be able to find it more easily as well.
