using "File name" for "Move file"

I try to use the output "File name with extension" in "Move file" "File to Move" field, but is seams like this field is asking for a string, instead of a written name? How can I realise a flow, which is moving my triggering file and the end of the flow to the generated folder?

This is my flow:

file move fails.png

This flow does the following:

1. triggered by dropping a file in a dropfolder

2. reads out the name of the file

3. splits the file name, because I just need the order number for next step

4. generating the path for the next step

5. generates a folder, named with the part of the file, generated in step 3

6. move the file from the dropfolder to the generated folder in step 5

I have the following error:

error step 6.png

happy for any help, finalizing my first flow..! 🙂

finaly, i got it! 🙂

I had to generate the identifier in a parallel branch, then get it in the left branch with an extra compose. after that I was able to access the identifier I generated in the parallel branch (right side).

maybe not so sexy, but it works! 🙂

Hi Lottiwurm,

The exception seems cannot retrieve your source file with your input path. Would help check whether 'File to Move' value could be accessed from your end?

Hello @Anonymous ,

the 'Move file' action needs file Id / Identifier, not file path. Search in the dynamic content for the file identifier instead of the file name.

How can I get the file identifier? Do I need to make pa parallel action and build a compose to get the identifier? I tried this but I could access compose 4?

Hello @Anonymous ,

if you're moving the file that triggered the flow, its 'Identifier' is available among outputs from the trigger.

Thank you for the replay. I tried it out with the identifier. Now I have the following error at the last step:

Failed to verify the existence of destination location at 'https://mydomain.sharepoint.com/sites/Einkauf/Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage//Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/EB50645' due to error 'The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)'.

serviceRequestId: 31361c83-85a3-494f-b90b-2d3e671b28b2

The bold part of the path is double, but I don't know why?

I did it like this:

thx in advance for your help!

Hello @Anonymous ,

review the Compose actions you're using. If the 'Outputs' you use in the 'Move file' action contains the path twice, then you're probably building the path twice somewhere in the compose actions. When you open the compose actions in the flow run history, you should see what values are on the input/output of them.

but there is only a compose input for the destination folder? For file to move, I am using the identifier. Is the identifier built with compose?

The error message says that the problem is with the destination location part (= the 'Destination Folder'). The 'Outputs' from 'Compose 3' already contains the whole path "/Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/EB50645". If you use 'Move file' with 'Destination Folder': "/Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/+ Outputs" (where Outputs = /Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/EB50645), you get /Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage//Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/EB50645 = the error.

Use just the 'Outputs' as the 'Destination Folder'.

ok, changed it. Now I have the following error:

Failed to verify the existence of destination location at 'https://mydomain.sharepoint.com/sites/Einkauf/Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/EB50645' due to error 'The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)'.

it looks for me like the flow is searching the file in the destination path?

I'd say you're missing part of the folder path, you're creating the new folder in 'Documents' library, but in the 'Move file' action you don't have the 'Documents' library mentioned anywhere. You pass just site url + folder structure, but not the library.

You should enter the full path including the 'Documents' library to the destination path, e.g.

/Shared Documents/Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/EB50645

ok, I fixed the path and the path seems to be ok now.

Next problem is, that it does not recognise the file. I tried with identifier and outputs.

outputs:

file name.png

identifier:

identifier.png

you can see, that it takes the filename if selecting the outputs (Bestellung EB50277 2020-12-09 13-57-14.pdf) and if selecting the identifier, it takes the part of the filename, which is also the folder name, generated with split (EB50277).

Any Idea?

Hello @Anonymous ,

I'm sorry but I feel we're getting back in a circle, all my ideas are already in the posts above.

I am very sorry about that, but I can't find a way to detect the file which is in the source folder, not by file name and not by identifier and I don't know what I can do to solve it

Does the file still exist in that folder? Didn't you already move it in one of the previous, successful runs into the other folder?

I checked the error message again. seams like the output folder check fails? here it is:

{
  "status"400,
"message""Failed to verify the existence of destination location at 'https://spansetgroup.sharepoint.com/sites/Einkauf/Auftragsabwicklung/Ablage/EB50277' due to error 'T..."
}

The folder "EB50277 is generated correctly, why do I have this error and why is it searching for a file at this point?
