I currently have an app that allows users to enter student interventions. I have a collect that allows users to add more than one student using same populated form fields. But to do this you have to enter all the form fields for the first student, then change student name and add them to that collection.
This is ok for a small number of selected students.
At a meeting today, one of our users asked me for the ability to add interventions for her therapeutic group all at once. The current way is too time intensive for her larger groups (50+ individuals).
As I imagine how to do this my logic is as follows:
1) User can pre-select students for specific group in form (need to determine how to store this)
2) User can select whole group when submitting intervention form using all same contact info fields
(currently you have to select students individually)
I not only have no idea how to create this, but I haven’t even really figured how to conceive it (aside from my 2 ideas above).
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!
Hi @slhangen
You can start with a list of students where you pick your sample.
First, open that student in a form to see all the details you want to replicate to other students in bulk.
Next, display a new gallery with the list of students where you want to replicate those details.
Add a checkbox to each item in this second students gallery.
When you select a student by clicking the checkbox, use a Collect action in the Oncheck property to add that student to a final collection along with all the details from the form.
This way, you can easily replicate the details from one student to multiple others by just selecting them in the second gallery.
Hope this helps!
Bellow more details in how to achieve it
lets say the you have a table/collection called 'Student Inventions' as datasoruce for Gallery1, so every time you select a record in that gallery the form is updated.
Im storing the selected record in a var called varSelectedStudent, Now with the details of the selected student lets say that you want to replicate the Category of the SelectedStudent to all the others, in the form i have a dropdown called DropdownCategory.
now im adding a a second Gallery, with the same datasource 'Student Inventions', but with only the name of the students and their email, in this gallery im adding a CheckBox, this is the important part look at the code you need to add in the OnCheck property
Collect(
'Selected Students',
{
Created: ThisItem.Created,
StudentName: ThisItem.StudentName,
InventionTitle: ThisItem.InventionTitle,
InventionDescription: ThisItem.InventionDescription,
Approved: ThisItem.Approved,
Email: ThisItem.Email,
Category: DropdownCategory.Selected.Value
}
)
Using that code Im collection all the selected students in a new collection callled 'Selected Students' just updating the category using the dropdown selected information, you can update any other value you like using other controls.
also please add this code to your OnUnCheck porperty so you remove the student from the collection
RemoveIf(
'Selected Students',
Email = ThisItem.Email
)
and finally there is a save button to save the changes
ForAll(
'Selected Students' As SelectedStudent,
Patch(
'Student Inventions',
LookUp('Student Inventions', Email = SelectedStudent.Email),
{
Category: SelectedStudent.Category
}
)
);
Clear('Selected Students');
This button takes all the students present in the 'Selected Students' collection, and updates their category values in the original datasoruce in my example 'Students Inventions'
Following those steps you should be able to replicate the details of one students into multiple other students.
Good Luck!!
Thank you so much, what I need to do is save the group so the user can call it up each day they meet and not have to select them each time.
This may not be possible, my reach may be longer than my grasp on this one, lol.
