Adding secondary search bar to org browser

How would I go about adding a secondary search bar to the 'Org Browser' to allow users to search by department?

e.g. If they search by 'Marketing' all the employees who are in the department will appear in the search results.

I'm fairly new at Power Apps so am not sure how to do this. Any instructions detailing the steps (if it is possible to do!) would be appreciated!

Based on the issue that you mentioned, do you want to filter based on the previously search bar result?

Could you please share a bit more about the scenario?

If you want to search by department based on the search name in the first search bar, please take a try as below.

In my scenario, I have a TextInput6 to search name and a TextInput7 to search department.

Add 2 Gallery, Gallery13 to search name and Gallery14 to search department.

Set the Items of the Gallery13 as below:

Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:TextInput6.Text,top:500})

Set the Items of the Gallery14 as below:

Filter(Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:TextInput6.Text,top:500}),Department in TextInput7.Text)

The second search bar would be independent of the first search bar.

Basically, someone could choose to either search by 'Name' or 'Department' (if this could be done within the one search bar that would be great too!).

The reason for needing to search for someone by department (scenario below):

• Employee has just commenced in the organisation and wants to contact someone in the Marketing Department.
• The employee hasn't met anyone from Marketing yet so does not know their name to put in the search bar (as search is based on name only).
• If the employee could search by department and input 'Marketing' in the search bar then the list of all employees who are in the marketing department will appear in the search results.

I guess thinking it through.... with the search bar that's there, can it be filtered to search by 'Employee Name' OR 'Department' ??

If the second search bar would be independent of the first search bar, you could modify the formula as below.

Filter(
    Office365Users.SearchUser(
        {
            searchTerm: "",
            top: 500
        }
    ),
    TextInput6.Text in DisplayName || TextInput7.Text in Department
)

Hi Qi,

How did you get "Department" to come up as a data field? When I put it in it doesn't register as a field (like SearchUser does for example).

Not sure how you write the formula for the Items property of the Gallery, please post your formula if it is convenient.

In addition, please check my formula one more time and make sure that you have connected to Office365Users.

I managed to finally get this to work (see below)

Another question however, in this screen, the search bar above doesn't appear to work any more (when I click the search button it doesn't do anything). Are you able to assist?
