App OnStart permissions issues

Hello all,

In OnStart of my App, I have three individuals listed and passed into a variable "vOwner" which is meant to control visibility of a few items on the canvas. As of recently, it's acting as if it is always returning that bool as false, and hiding the control.

App OnStart FX:

If(
User().FullName = "Display Name" ||
User().FullName = "Display Name" ||
User().FullName = "Display Name",
Set(vOwner,true),
Set(vOwner,false)
)

The Office365 Connector seems to be okay, I've re-added it to be safe.

I have also tried altering this to use email instead of display name, and went as far as setting global variables found here from PowerApps Tutorial, appears to have the same issue. I also noticed vOwner returns blank. I'm hoping I'm missing something simple 🙂

Maybe you can try creating a variable to see what is being passed along by your User().FullName value for troubleshooting.  Then double check that it's actually matching your expected Display Name

Set(varUserName, User().FullName)

When viewing the varUserName, is it what you expect?

Setting that variable and assigning User().FullName as well as changing it all back to use email still returns blank when calling it in a Text Field 🤔 So it doesn't even set it as a bool either

It also may be worth mentioning - I restored a previous version of this app for editing that I know was working. Tested it all, correct fields displayed with names/emails matched etc. and commented out one line of User().FullName= and it broke entirely. 🙃

So User().FullName is returning a blank value?  Could it be something like this causing the issue:

It appears so. Just to make sure, my usage of || is correct and I don't need to replace those with && right? Cause it should be this OR this OR this etc. then set the variable bool true/false?

The use of || as Or is correct! But I think it can be condensed:

If(
User().FullName = "Display Name1" || "Display Name2" || "Display Name3",
Set(vOwner,true),
Set(vOwner,false)
)

Here I set the "Display Name1" to my own name, and used the above formula.  It correctly set the vOwner to true:

I'm assuming your "Display Name" is something like "Bob Smith", "Mike Smith", etc

Huh. I made that condensed change and poof. It returned the correct boolean. I'm not sure what made the difference, but that kicked it enough to make it do stuff lol maybe I was passing it too much garbage in the if statement with the additional User().FullName? Powerapps and Power FX will forever be a mystery to me. Thank you for the assistance, Rusk!
