App saved and published but not saved in Git

We had a developer that saved and published an app with quite a bit of work but they did not use the commit to publish to Git and instead used the traditional save and publish feature.  So the app is running with all the changes however when you attempt to open the app it asked for the Git credentials and when provided the editable app is all the code from Git which makes sense.

The question here is the changes and all the work have to be somewhere as the published app has those changes however the app can't be edited as those changes do not exist in Git because it was saved wrong.

Is there a way to recover from this or is it just all re-work?  The app does have the changes published and working but no way to access the code that is running as when you open to edit it pulls only the code from Git and not what's been published from studio.

I know this is not idea but new developers using Git integration it can be confusing for them to use "which" button.  I wish it hid the others so there wasn't mistakes like these.  If anyone has any ideas about if recovery is possible would love to hear ideas.

I believe I found a way to pull the published app out of the exported package, by opening the export and locating the msapp file, I could open that file without anything else in Power Apps Studio and it gave me the current app with all the changes published in studio but not in Git.  I could then re-connect and commit the code changes to Git or use save as and publish to the cloud etc...

There may be better or other methods but after some "tinkering" if you will I was able to save a week of development time due to human error.

So if others have problems and you can export the current published app this may be a solution for you as well.

Similar issue here: I just lost like 2 hours work when I saved in in Studio via "Save with version comments" and it did not automatically commit it to GIT (as it normally does, which I checked like several times today). Unfortunately I did not publish the version and reopen the app in Studio (to check unrelated stuff in my app) so I have nothing to get my changes from. Hope this gets fixed / improved soon to be reliably committing to GIT. Till then I recommend anyone using this feature to always either verify the commit in GIT upon saving in PA studio or even using the dedicated Commit button there.
