App stays blank when I want to edit existing records

Hi!

I made an app connected to a SP list. I can add new records, but when I click one of the records from the SharePoint List for editing, it displays my app as what I think is a "View mode" (the fields show in blank, not even the hint text appears). 

When I click "Edit" it allows me to enter data, but it shows as if I were creating a new record. 

How can I get the app to show the data from the record I selected to edit?

Hello,

Have you create an custom app inside the Sharepoint Form ? because this link can be cause this issues that you listed.

Anyways, look foward to use Displayforms inside the Power Apps to showing the data without interfer the mode that you running, no matter you are just viwer or editing the results must be the same if you have a DisplayForm.

If it is a canvas app and when Display Mode is set to Edit, whenever you make changes it should send the update back to the SharePoint. I would check the Items under Data section to see if it has a condition for Edit mode. You may try to use the collections to get the updates from each row and patch it back to SharePoint.

Is it possible for you to share a screenshot of your app and the gallery settings if it is a canvas app?

Do you have a SharePoint form in your SP list?

Generally, we custom form as below, then it will navigate you to the SharePointIntegration in Power Apps, where you could do something customization and then save and pulish it.

Once you are back to your SP list, select a record and click the edit icon, it will open the custom form.

Please check the above operation and see if it works on your side.

I mean that I am not able to edit the existing records in the SharePoint list.

Following these steps gets me to edit my app, not my records.

The Items in data section are set as "Defaults('My SharePoint List')" 

"My SharePoint List" as the name of my list.

I have seen other apps showing Gallery in the Tree View, but mine doesn't. Is this what you mean?

Yes, I created it from the SharePoint List!

I tried creating the display form but it just blocks completly from editing the form:(

I think the only way it was "When you hit the Edit Button" at the Sharepoint list, that redirect you inside the Sharepoint to edit records, not in a Power Apps Forms.

Anyway, here you have more options to understand the forms relate to the Sharepoint List

If you have finished reading my reply, you should realize that I have confirmed the way you create the form, and if you have learned about the custom form, you will know that after you publish the version in Power Apps, it will navigate you back to your SP list, where is the place you edit the records.

I do agree with @wolenberg_ that you need to understand the forms relate to the Sharepoint List by the mentioned blog.
