Hello all,
I am super new with power automate and I'm trying to create the following flow:
Create a list from forms responses and at the same time send the forms through email for approval.
In the list I've added the approval status, so the idea is when the approval request is completed I'd like to also update the item to approved/rejected accordingly. So here are the steps:
1. Form is answered and submitted
2. The responses are added to the list (the approval status column will be pending) & sent to the specific email for approval
3. The approval request is completed
4. An email is sent to the form responder with the approval notice & the item is updated in the list from pending to approved/ reject
I was able to create most of it, however I'm having issues with the list update. Not just one item is updated but the whole column of items.
Solved! Go to Solution.
So, I checked your flow. I want you to make a design change. Instead of doing parallel actions just do everything in a straight line. When you do this in parallel and update item, it wont show id of that create item. If you do it in a straight line you will see id of update items and you will not have to use get items action and you can update the item without adding an apply to each loop.
See below I have added actions in parallel.
If you see below If I try to add ID in update item which is just below create item I can see ID.
But if you see in update item which is parallel, you cannot see any id.
So, for your flow use the below design:
I hope this helps 🙂
If this works for you can mark this reply as the solution and if you liked the explanation you can give a like/kudo too.
If you have any other doubt you can reply. I will try to answer it tomorrow as it is 2:30 am here. Going to sleep. zzz
Sure, I haven't shared it cause I'm not sure if this is the best structure for the flow. But you can see it attached.
So under conditions, if yes or now, I had added (besides send email), the get response details, get items, and set content approval, to update the list to approved/reject. However it would apply to the whole column of items.

I really appreciate your help. The good news is that only the 'one' item updates, what is great. However now, all the time that I "approve" it "rejects". So the list is updated with reject and the email I receive is also a reject.
I've deleted it all and I did it all over. Not it goes the other way around, every time I reject it, it show as approved in the list, and the email sent is also approved.
Here you can see that I pretty much copied your design.
Here is when I tested the flow, if you look in the 'start and wait for approval', it shows the outcome was "Reject"
However the condition behaves contrary:
Any idea? Again, thanks so much for the help so far. Not in a rush as well, just trying to learn and get better on this.
I am really confused what you have done in your condition. In your condition, please do this:
Or if you are not able to do the above,
directly copy this in your condition:
@equals(outputs('Start_and_wait_for_an_approval')?['body/outcome'], 'Approve')
Actually I think it's not your fault. I was helping my colleague today in creating a flow. And when she ran the flow it went to true side. When she came back to edit mode, we saw that the condition was empty. So probably some kind of bug that happened in Power Automate today.
