Attachments not saving, showing 'Unsaved' message

Hi,

I have user PowerApps to create a custom SharePoint list item form (rather than an App) and need to be able to add attachments to the list items, however when adding the Attachments feature, any attempt to actually upload an attachment to the entry displays the text 'Unsaved' next to the attachment and does not add the attachment upon saving. I have checked another list where a custom form is used and this is the case here also.

Our PowerApps version is 3.19104.33

Could you please advise if there is a way that we can get this functionality working as expected?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Hi @MarkWhitfield ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you mean that the attached files within the Attachments control could not be saved into your SP List when press "Save" button?

It is an normal bahaviour that -- when upload a file from your local PC into the Attachments control, the attached file would be marked as "Unsaved" until you save your form data back to your SP list.

If you could not save the attached files from the Attachments control back to your SP list, please remove the Attachments control from your Edit form, then re-add it again, re-publish your custom form app, try it again in your SP List, check if the issue is fixed.

In addition, currently, there are some known issue with PowerApps Custom form in SharePoint, please check the following thread for more detaisl:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps-Formerly/PowerApps-pulling-old-record/td-p/4...

I think your issue may be related to this issue. I have posted this issue to my product team, if this issue is solved, I would reply here.

@v-xida-msft ,

I have the same issue, My attachment field displays "unsaved". It worked earlier.

I have tried to remove, add and publish the App but it didn't help.

Moreover, the attachment is not saved when I submit the form. All the rest fields are saved correctly.

PowerApps studio version is 3.21034.27

Could you please advise how to fix it?

I am experiencing this same issue. Removing and re-adding the field does not resolve anything.

Hi @MarkWhitfield ,

Did you try to use the patch? Consider to have the attachment in one form and use Patch function

Patch(DataSource, Lookup(DataSource, ID=varselectedID),
    frmAttachment.Updates)

Please Thumbs up and accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue.

I have a similar experience. I am using the patch function to submit form data that includes an attachments field. In my scenario the user does not navigate away from the form after they click the "save and continue" button. I can confirm that attachments do indeed save to the SharePoint list when the "save and continue" button is clicked, however the form does not detect this and tags the attachment(s) as unsaved unless the user clicks "save and continue" a second time. It seems to be a kind of race condition and I'm not sure how to handle it.

Please try to use the Refresh function

Refresh(Datasource) after the patch function

Please Thumbs up and accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue.

Hello @Sid_Jafri,

Thanks for your reply! I think tried this a few months ago (I had put this issue down for a while - looking for a solution again) and as I recall it didn't help. I've also been avoiding using the Refresh() function because it's pretty heavy-handed per Shane Young: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmYlJIjHS2M. As it happens I'm taking one of Shane's courses next week so I'll ask him what he recommends - will post back if I get an answer 🙂

Hi @skeepee

Please keep us posted for resolution. I agree that running Refresh() every time will be heavy handed but you can achieve this on providing instant refresh button to resolve this issue

any luck on finding a workaround? running into this same issue today 🤪
