Auto select first item in gallery after applying filters

Hello,

I have a simple app linked to a sharepoint list data source.  My screen is broken up into 3 section.  

Left - Dropdown filters the user can apply to narrow their search

Middle - Gallery list of items

Right - Form (displaying the selected item using Gallery.Selected)

When I apply a filter on the left, no items in the gallery are selected, when I select another item in the filter, the first item is shown.  This is cyclic.  Every second time I change the filter, it selects an item, every other time, no item is selected.

Any ideas please?

Hi @WarrenBelz,  I'm still trying to solve this one.  FYI I have been playing around with different options in the default property of the gallery but this seems to make things worse.   Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  thanks

You could try adding this to the default for the gallery:

First(Gallery1.AllItems)

For the item setting, this might work a little smoother:

Is there a specific filter that never works?  For example, if you apply the filters in a different order, is it still just the second filter that is applied that causes a change?

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions.  @trstrean adding "First (Gallery1.AllItems)" to the default works every time I change the filter, however once I have applied the filter and try to click on any other item, it immediately jumps back up to the first item.

@WarrenBelz what you have said makes sense to me but unfortunately does not work.  It is not selecting anything on every second filter.  Could there be anything else I could try?  FYI I have nothing in the OnChange properties of the drop-downs.

I think this might be what you are trying to do.  You are basically trying to get the form to display whatever your first item in your gallery is.  If that is the case, you could put something like this in the On Visible of the page:  

Set(varSelectedGalleryItem,First(Gallery1.AllItems))

Then you need to do the same for your selections so that the variable is always getting updated.  Place that variable in the items of the form.  When you load the page, the first item of your gallery should be in the form.  As you make selections, your form should also match.  Does that get you closer to what you are trying to do?
