Automatically change the DefaultSelectedItems to the next value in datasource

Is it possible to pre-populate a combo box so that the DefaultSelectedItems property is a specific value in a column from the data source (sharepoint list) and on submit, the form resets and the DefaultSelectedItems switches to the next value in the same column in the sharepoint list?

If so how can this be done?

In the DefaultSelectedItems I already have the function

Lookup(

          Choices([@'sharepointlist'].'Column name'),
Value = "Example"
)

This is hard coding a specific value into my combo box which is what I don't want. I'd like the default to be set to the next value in the sharepoint lists column after I submit a form. Instead of always restarting as "Example" I believe that this can be done with an IF function but I can't seem to pinpoint it. 

Any thoughts?

If by 'next' item, you mean the item that has the next ID number in the SharePoint list, this may work. Without knowing what kind of data you're trying to pull in (a person field vs. a single line of text from a SP list item), here's my thoughts:

Example DataSource from a SharePoint list with the ID column and another column of data showing:

ID	Value to Display in Combo Box
1	Example 1
2	Example 2

In this example, your combo box is showing "Example 1" and you want it to show "Example 2" after saving/submitting your current form.

1 - Tell your submit button to define a variable with the ID number from the item it is currently displaying in the combo box--in setting this variable, we will simply +1 to that ID to get the next sharepoint list row. Then tell it to reset the value of your combo box (in the OnSelect of your Submission button):

UpdateContext({vItemNumber:ComboBox.Selected.ID + 1});
Reset(ComboBox)

2 - Tell your combo box to have a default value that looks up based on that variable. For example:

Lookup(
    DataSource,
    ID = vItemNumber
)

This will return into the combobox the next sequential record (based on the SharePoint ID).

A loose thread to tie up with using this default value: When your app/screen first loads, you should update the vItemNumber variable with what default ID to have, but other than that, I believe this should work.

Great the first step is working thank you! 

However, I am running into one issue when the field resets, the ID number is going up by 1 which is good, but the value of which the ID number correlates to is not being defaulted in the combo box.  

EX:

ID 1 = Example 1 

(hits button and combo box resets) 

ID 1 changes to ID 2 

but there is no value being populated in the combo box it is empty.

I would like

 Example 1 

(hits button) 

Example 2

I have attached a picture of what I would like to happen.

You may want to update how your combo box is communicating to its data source, i.e.:

Items = DataSource

aka the source is the name of your SharePoint list or library, and then make sure your display field is the column you care about:

DisplayField = ["ColumnName"]
