Based on 1 text field to store the value in another field

Hi,

So I have a sharepoint main list, and few external reference list. On creating a powerapp, the field stores value (ID) of the record in the sharepoint list. Now on the view screen when I add the form control, I can see the ID. But I want to see the display name of the ID that is stored in the external list. How can I do it?

@unknow122 ,

The specific answer to my questions on field names are still not clear to me, so I will go with descriptions and assume here the label is in the same form or gallery as the main list item.

LookUp(
   YourSecondList,
   YourIDField = ThisItem.ID
).YourLocationField

@unknow122 ,

What exactly is your external reference list and where do you store the ID from the SharePoint list in it?

@WarrenBelz ,

For instance I have a location field in my main sharepoint list. And that location has about 122 rows that could be edited in future. For that reason, I created a reference list for location with the inbuilt ID activated that sharepoint list has. Now in the powerapps, when a user selects a location, the user can see the names of the location but behind the scenes when the user saves it, it gets saved in the form of an ID in the main sharepoint list. In the view screen, when I want to display the location,it shows me the ID (as saved in sharepoint list). But instead I want to see the display name that corresponds to the ID in the view screen of Powerapps.

@unknow122 ,

So your reference list is another SharePoint list with the ID of the main list stored in a numeric field and also contains a field with the location? What is the name of the list and the two fields and their fiel types?

reference list is another SharePoint list with the ID of the main list stored in a numeric field - Yes, but every list has unique id stored. So the reference list ID value is stored under the main list(location column) based on whatever the user chooses. For instance the ref list has east,west, north , south as the data with 1,2,3,4 as their unique ID. Now when user selects east on powerapps, and when they submit the form, in the main list of sharepoint under location column id1 is stored. The name of main list is Request for location and ref list is Location. And their data type is number on sharepoint list. In view screen when I add the form, I can see the ID 1 as the data(because it is stored in that way on sharepoint list). But instead I Want the value "east" to be displayed on view screen instead of ID 1. So I can create a label field next to the number field displayed on view screen and also I know we can use Lookup function on the text property of the label field. But not sure what formula goes into it.

YourIDField
YourLocationField

 I am not clear with these two.

With respect to the field names, my main list (Request for Location) has the columns: FirstName, LastName, PhoneNumber, Address, Location, Additional Comment

Where my ref list(Location) has ID (Inbuilt id from sharepoint by going to list settings, all items and enabling ID) and Title columne(Title has all east,west,north, south data in it).

@unknow122 ,

That is why I asked for the field names and types and asked a specific question on whether you stored the ID from the first list in the second list in a numeric column - it now appears not, so what field is a common link between the lists? The ID of the second list will not link with anything.

There is no field common. Both the lists are just independent on sharepoint. And on powerapps it is connected. I just use the column names, create variables and collections. But only the id of the second list is being stored in the form of data value in the main sharepoint list.

@unknow122 ,

Then how can you possibly show an item from the second list when you have no "link" to refer to ?
