Building in teams - Missing basic functionality

So I built an entire record keeper app that we've been running for the past few weeks, but it's getting sluggish as we move on. It's currently based on sharepoint lists because at some point I figured that was the best option we had. I originally ignored the teams/dataverse option because I thought we would be exceeding 2GB, but after importing 9000 records into the sharepoint lists it's only showing around 3MB. 

I'm starting to recreate it with a teams/dataverse to hopefully help lag/load times, but I'm not seeing a lot of options that are in the "web-based" app builder. For reference both apps are canvas.

Missing:

- creating a calculated field in a table throws an error about not being able to sign in (might be me, have to research further)

- no theme option

- labels don't have background fill or borders (no border radius on buttons)

- no camera input

- no dropdown box (I gather I can use a combo box, just have to play) - also cant change background color on these either.

- there doesn't appear to be a way to import data en masse into the tables without bending over backwards through power flow/automate, which I guess i'm fine with. I'll figure it out if I can get the app to function properly.

- I also just found that you cannot put a data table inside a container. Why?

I don't know if I'm an idiot or I'm missing something, but I've been working for the past 3 hours on this and I'm seriously concerned that I'm going to hit something I can't work around (like lacking a camera input as of right now) and having to scrap this avenue. It seems that the builder for power apps within teams is too far pared down and it's missing quality of life options, or missing essential inputs/functionality.

For those interested:

- At this time, calculated columns are not available for teams dataverse, which I found on the microsoft reference pages.

- If I have columns set as dates, currency, or multi-line text they are considered read only when looking at the table. This makes it impossible to add new records manually if any of these columns are required, which big surprise, they are.

Is this "feature" in beta? Because it definitely feels like it.

I do agree PA for Teams feels like a very limited version of the PA at times. It seems a big part is due to limitations in the new fluid controls, which still seem to be work in progress with missing properties like the background for labels, alignment for text inputs, etc.

There are some work-arounds that can help though:

- In the app settings you can enable legacy controls, which will bring a 'Classic' category of controls, including Dropdown and full-featured text labels. Mind you these are labelled legacy and might be deprecated at some point in the future, so I personally try to use these as little as possible;

- For many controls, you can use an alternative, like a combobox in stead of dropdown, text box (in view mode) in stead of label (textbox does allow you to set the background in PA for Teams);

- The lack of calculated columns in dataverse for Teams is indeed annoying, but can be covered by putting the calculations in your app (which allows for more complex formulas);

- I've built apps that use date/currency fields without any problems, so you might want to look into that some more since it should be possible.

Where do I find legacy controls in teams?

After you enable them (Settings > Upcoming features -> Experimental -> Classic controls), there will be a new section "Classic" at the bottom of the controls list.

PA in Teams is indeed very basic.
Somewhere down the line, I appear to have been restricted to making Power Apps within Teams only.  Even simple things like search dont seem to work to filter a gallery.

Increasingly disappointed with the Power Apps platform from Microsoft.
